Title: Exterior Door Trim
Post by: nthomas1 on 01 December, 2017, 11:10:08 PM
Before stripping down the doors on my S2 Coupe I noticed that the leading edges look somewhat unfinished. See first picture. Studying the TAV for the door I noticed a part, reference number 26, that is missing from my car. See second picture.  I understand from Omicron that it is a thin stainless steel pressing that is secured by a small self tapping screw.  Omicron do not stock them.  I've searched back through my files to try to find a photograph of one, but while I can find plenty of pictures of the trailing edges of doors, I've not found any of the leading edges.  Could somebody send me a picture of one from their car so I can see what they look like?  I'm guessing that this is one of those "hen's teeth" parts that is impossible to find.

Hi

I've produced the composite image below that I hope helps.
As you say, it is essentially a thin piece of pressed stainless steel.
The first picture is with the piece in situ on the (nearside) door; I then removed the piece and have photographed on a ruler so you get an idea of sizing in case this is helpful. The curves and angles would seem to make this a PITA to DIY though!

Many thanks for taking the trouble to do this Scott.  It's a huge help.  They certainly look like tricky things to make.  I'll continue my search.  At least I now know what I'm looking for!

You've just forced me to go out in the cold to check mine. I don't have these parts on my doors either. I wonder how many Fulvias do have them?

It turns out that Brian Cates in Bournemouth has a few pairs of used ones.  I'm waiting for a pair to arrive by post. Brian provided my re-trimmed interior and has helped me out a couple of times to find hard-to-get parts.  Good chap to know!

Thanks for checking Stanley.  As you can see from my previous post I managed to source a pair through Brian Cates.  I have his contact details if you need them.

My door caps arrived today.  Brian Cates provided them free as I'd previously bought a full interior from him.  That's what I call good after sales service!
