Title: Fulvia body panels
Post by: ChrisA on 05 January, 2018, 04:59:53 PM
I can no longer put off buying the repair panels for my Series 2 project and was looking for advise from LMC members who have already been through the process.

As a start I am in need of a rear panel (and possibly a rear valance) and both a drivers and passenger side floor panel. Too early to tell yet but maybe also sills...depends what we find when she comes back from the paint strippers!!!!!!

My options in the UK seem to be limited to either Omicron or Classic Lancia Restorations. From Italy there are a couple of places, some of which seem happy to talk, while others seem to ignore my emails.

Has anybody had experience sourcing these panels and can comment on their fit and finish? I'm not looking for the cheapest necessarily as in the long run using good panels saves time on panel beating and body filler.

Cheers
Chris

Bill's panels are always good and David Ashworth's panels are also very good - in my humble opinion ! Don't have experience of other Fulvia panels

It sounds Chris like you are in a similar situation to me.  I have a UK spec S2 Coupe which I am restoring.

I started out thinking I would just need rear panel, rear valance, driver side front floor pan and a partial left side inner sill. As strip down work proceeded I decided that it would also make sense to replace the outer sills and front subframe mounting boxes. That meant also getting wing sections front and rear both sides in order to allow the new sills to be fitted.

I bought the rear panel, rear valance, inner sill section and subframe mounting boxes from David Ashworth. I collected the first three items from David in Wrexham in 2016,  and had the mounting boxes shipped to me last Summer as I decided on them later. It was a pleasure to deal with David and he was generous with advice.  The panels and boxes were all supplied in bare metal and they inevitably accumulated some surface rust in the year or so after buying them. I treated that with Jennolite and then sprayed them with etch primer.

I bought the driver-side floor pan, outer sills and the four partial wing sections from Martin Willems in the Netherlands. I also bought some trim items, filters, and exhaust from them. Their prices are very competitive and shipping costs are low. Also, and very helpfully, their website shows prices. Service and communications were excellent and delivery was fast. All panels seem to be of high quality and are already coated. The only negative with them was that their packaging was a bit rudimentary - with no protection between the panels.  As a result there was some minor surface damage to one of the the wing sections, but that can be fixed during fitment.

I’ve shown pictures of the panels below. All are now with my welder who has commenced fitment. My other forum posts describe my rebuild progress, including some information on the process of drilling out spot welds and removing the old rear panel and valance .  Good luck with yours
