Title: Tacho noise Post by: lancialulu on 08 January, 2018, 01:21:02 PM I am sure this has been covered before but I cannot find it!
My Flavia 815 mechanical tacho (revcounter) has started to make a kind of screeching noise when the car is started after any short lay off period. Before I investigate, is it just a case of undoing the cable and squirting in WD40 into the revcounter head bearing> Anyone let me know their experiences please. Mine has an annoying light ticking noise that is related to engine speed, Could it be related ? Bob Title: Re: Tacho noise Post by: peteracs on 11 January, 2018, 09:19:03 AM Hi Tim
If possible I would use more of a lubricant if possible than an easing oil like WD40. I usually find it is great to clear out out the gunk, but less good for long term use. Also not so keen on the smell that can hang around for a while. He says that once the solvent that makes it sprayable has gone it is more like glue. His throttle jammed open sending him through a set of iron railings and he carries the resulting tin collar bone to this day.
