I have a couple of these. In a previous life I'd have signed up for the lot. Next to the MM film on YouTube was this one I remember enjoying: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PExBCwPrFpE Title: Re: Shell film of the 1953 Mille Miglia Post by: ColinMarr on 11 February, 2018, 03:31:55 PM There used to be a version of the 1953 Mille Miglia Shell film available online with an English soundtrack, but it now seems not to be there. I think it was originally released in English. I have a copy on DVD and can make a copy for anyone interested.
It is a remarkable film and is a tribute to the director/ film cameraman Bill Mason. An extract from his obituary includes: “In 1953, coverage of the Mille Miglia was elaborately planned, with British and Italian cameramen deployed over hundreds of miles along the peaks and folds of the Alpine course; Mason, co- driver in a Ferrari, used a portable newsreel camera from the passenger seat during the race”. Nick Mason is Bill Mason’s son. More details on the film include: Details from the BFI: Cast & Credits. Cast. Commentary [Spoken by]. Nevil Lloyd. Credits. Direction: Director. Bill Mason.
