Title: Identify this Touring Flaminia speedo.
Post by: Flamfan on 25 November, 2018, 07:57:44 PM
Came across this Touring Flaminia speedometer. The speed is shown in MPH & KPH. Not seen one like that before.
Is it 'factory' or a home made insert ?

Looks like a home made  inserted ring possibly?

Looks like a DIY job to me especially the MPH lettering, nice idea though.  Although now days you just use a sat-nav, as the flaminia speedo isn't the most accurate when coming face to face with one of the thousands of speed cameras that litter the roads

Home made definitely. Mine is kmh and I have a spare mph speedo that I originally planned to fit - but never did as - as Julian says - they aren’t very accurate anyway - so kmh stayed

Agreed.
Standard speedo and RPM markings are heavily applied and three dimensional. That looks printed and flat.
I rarely look at my speedo apart from checking water temp, oil temp and pressure. but now always check the rev counter
when slowing to a halt.
Last year I was braking whilst approaching a junction and experienced what I thought was brake failure. I then realised
that the engine had cut out with a loss of servo assistance. Scary moment . Almost put my foot through the floor and the
car seemed to take an eternity to stop.  :o
