Title: Valve Clearence on the 814.00 engine.
Post by: Cassino on 02 March, 2019, 01:20:27 PM
I have an 814.00 head on my Appia S2 Berlina engine.
Looking at the new APPIA book from Wim......under the chapter:Keep the Appia Fit. the valve clearance and camshaft settings. It says:

For Coupe,convertable/GTE and Sport from engine number 3701 (my engine is 4617)
For these engines with 8 port cylinder head, the procedure is the same as above except that the valve clearance must be set to 1.40mm, The inlet valve just opens at TDC and the exhaust valve 3o before TDC.

Is there anyway I can confirm that what is stamped on the block ,is exactly what it says?
Are there any other "give aways".....to indicate the 814.00 spec. is what I have?

Ian

I am not an Appia expert, but this refers to timing the engine rather than valve clearance?

I agree. That figure is for setting the timing, not the clearance for operating purposes.
Lancia uses this engone timing method for most of its motors. I followed this procedure on my B12 and it is 'spot-on'

Hi
Those figures are for the timing set up see attached PDF taken from the workshop manual there is a difference for this engine for the valve timing
