" A ’60s Aston is still quite quick; the Lancia isn’t, and people don’t always get the appeal.” Are they too subtle? “I don’t like the term,” says Thornley, “but they are connoisseur cars.” Couldn't have put it better myself ;D Title: Re: Martin Buckley on Flaminas. Classic and Sports Car (online) Post by: DavidLaver on 27 May, 2019, 01:14:42 PM A 60s Aston magazine cliche is that it might be fast but its not pleasant. Perhaps best for a prowl round town. A 50s Ferrari cliche is that it might be fast but unless its a wide and very smooth straight road its just not going to happen, and going slow is no fun either but it might look good in the collection and its a very very important car and available at auction next month. Was a time when no Ferrari Boxer had done more than 10,000 miles, was it the car not getting there or the driver not being willing to suffer it? ....and Lancias...might be slow to accelerate but little need to slow down again, and little need for rest stops. |
