I don't know who decides on the cars for the display but you're welcome to my Daytona Zagato race car or the 2018 hill climb championship winning Fulvia berlina if you want to brighten up the display a bit?

Tony,
It would be great to see your Hill Climb 2c Berlina, looks magnificent.
Too late for this year, but next year. ;D

Who does the selection? I haven't seen anything about it?
-
I can let relevant committee members know of your kind offer and get back to you, thanks.
P
-
You're welcome Frank, I have the two available
-
The Berlina has a great history
-
Great, will let you know as soon as I can, are cars near to Birmingham?
P
-
I'm south of Oxford but have a trailer as they can't be driven on the road so only an hour away.
-
Usually there is a theme to the cars that the club displays. If my cars fit the theme then please ask... both are factory stock-spec and known to most of the committee. Integrale Evo2 or an original Lancia Y (Cosmopolitan) ...although I can only drive one up to Birmingham, obviously ;D
-
The theme is 'Top Trumps', so make of that what you will.... My Beta 2000ie will be appearing on the adjacent Betaboyz stand.

Well if that's the theme then the Club will need a mezzanine level on the stand as the list of exemplary cars Lancia made is rather long!
-
Also get a beautiful GR.4 Coupe coming in from next week
-
Hi , If anyone has some pictures of the cars and stand for the forum that'd be great and then I can put some on the website news too. Unfortunately I'm unable to attend this year.

Yep, looks that way - I'll try and do that - thanks for the link Frank

Anyone know the story with the competition Fulvia?

Always the the last to post ::)
Here's a selection of my pics from the LMC/Beta displays, plus a couple from other Lancia's spotted around the show.

I love the competition S1 Fulvia Sedan but what UK events/Series would it compete in I wonder? And what other 1300cc 60's cars would it be up against?
There was another competition S1 Fulvia Sedan in the pool of cars for the 'Goodwood Experience' ( turn up and pay for 10 laps or so around the circuit) I recall but I have never heard any more about it.

Enjoy..... Not quite like a LMC Good wood trackday!
-
That's rather fun. Trying to think if I've seen in-car footage of anything else with a column change. The key fob works well as a G-meter in the left handers but hits something swinging the other way.
Good find!!!

Photos no 14/15 were of a restored Flavia coupe (was that a Lancia colour in 1963?)
On sale for £39995, after a £40k restoration, anyone know if it sold?

I would have used the words "restored" advisedly....

Tim, don't shoot the messenger... ;D
Their words "A recent £40000 restoration"
Can you shed any light on this car?

Re the 2C at Lime Rock; the camera position is brilliant because you can see everything that's going on in the cockpit AND what's going on behind in the rear view mirror. It showed a few others up with its' handling through the corners and I love that it retained the drum speedometer.
-
I'd missed the drum speedo and rear view mirror - and enjoyed that video all over again.
-
It revs! The arc of movement needed on the gear lever make it clear why the column shift died out.
Circuit - reminds me of Cadwell and Oulton Park over here.

I somehow dont think he was doing 160kph in third....... And from what I could see he reved to c6000 and mostly kept at that in third occasionally changing up to fourth ....
-
Here is our 'Red Baron' being driven by it's gentle previous owner, it's got FIA HTP which is very important so you can use it where ever as long as it complies with the regs applicable to the event you are entering.

Mikenoangelo, the problem with column shifts generally is they need enough free play to accommodate movement of the engine on its' mountings. The advantage is that with a bench front seat you can fit three across without the driver having to grope the adjoining passenger to change gear. Having said which I have driven a Fulvia with column change a pleasure to use and on a Flaminia, having a solidly mounted transaxle, there is no play to spoil it. Your point about lever travel is fair though, much more a touring set-up than racing. The demise of column changes possibly goes hand in hand with the demise of bench front seats.
-
Yes I remember driving Standard Vanguard and Vauxhall Velox of 1954 when they were new and later a 1954 Sunbeam Talbot 90 - all with column changes which were rather horrid but no doubt far less well made than the Lancias mentioned. The Velox needed a rebore at 30,000 miles and my Dad got rid of it after a respray for rust when the bench seat fell off its perch at three years of age. Don't see many of them these days ;) The Sunbeam Talbot at least had a four speed gearbox but two of those seemed to be bottom gears so no huge benefit there.

Not a lot of gear changing necessary, even in the mountains

Maybe so,
But it's a lovely column gear change as every joint is individually adjustable, and there no pesky tunnel on the front floor to stop you getting in either side and shuffling across, for and against, you pays your money and takes your choice, or if you really like a floor change, then go for the series 1 with the four speed gearbox and the long lever, probably the best gear change of any Fulvia.
