For the Lambda I would like to have an acceptable method of labeling the wiring loom.  As I've no access to an original example (don't even know if the Lambda wiring was at all labeled) I took a look at the aurelia way, which I kind of like. 

Talking about that with a friend who has a laser cutting company it would be feasable to laser cut the labels, and make them in paired strings, and maybe even laser engrave numebers in them from 1 to eg 50.  (the labels have to stay attached to something and cut of manually, as they would otherwise be scattered away by the rapid movement of the machine)

I have made the shallow strip on the end i bit longer in my drawing to facilitate use on thicker cables as wel, it will be made in 0.6mm soft alu so can be cut with scissors even...

Would there be any interest if I proceed with a project like this, as naturally the cost for one string would be relatively high....

Flaminias too, where the numbers seem to be printed on and wear off so something with the number engraved would be much better. Keep us posted. Might Lancia restoration companies be interested in investing in them?

There is a company who attend Padova as a seller who sell 'kits' of aluminium number tags in plastic cases  in the style of the Flaminia ones above. The kits in the past were always for FIAT models but there seems to be a standard numbering convention for the main feeds on old Italian cars such as 51 etc etc.

AES has a good PDF on the matter.  I hope it's ok to share it here.  Something to think about.  Bosch must have been quite quick with this, as even the Lambda follows the codes (apart from the electric window winders :-) )

If anyone feels an urge to come up with a list....

@Chris: any idea on the name of the company?  If it is available at a reasonable cost it would be silly to invest time and money in this.  (although I think if made in say 50 or 100 sets the cost will be ok per set)

Would I be right in thinking each vehicle needs two sets of tags because the number appears at both ends of each wire?

I found the tags to be very useful in early Aurelias as all the wires are black and the wiring is not over complicated.
I don't have a name for the supplier but I will keep an eye open for them.

Frank,  indeed, I guess two per wire.
Now the one I fished out of the aurelia pick-up has a two, so there is defenitely not only the bosch codes used...

I'm thinking about something like in the picture.

I have thought of making these tags but the printing cost have always been expensive
also the  the font is hard to match.

Had his own B20 on a body builders stand nearly finished with nice new tags.

Laser engraving will not work on aluminium....maybe need to switch to very thin rvs?

Is photo etching a possible alternative process? Stainless steel photo etched parts are standard in the scale model industry where small production runs are common.

I've been in touch with two companies that print on aluminium, one even prints on 3D shaped objects, and both come back they can't do it....( or they not interested maybe in small batches)

Also Enrico came back and says he does not have the labels.

What seems difficult is to find the tags themselves.
Why not remplace the engraving by stamping.
Stamp punch sets do not seem expensive, depends on quality. One must just find the right font and size.

After having the tags, especially if they come as cut out aluminum sheets, it is an evening work stamping the numbers in, and it can be done on demand!
There would still be some trials necessary to find the good grade of aluminum (that bends easily, and does not break), and someone to do the laser cut out sheets.

It would seem a pity to go to the effort of producing tags that don't look like the originals with black numbers in the original font.

An Appia S1 has the aluminium tags one at each end very useful.
