Title: Wheels Post by: impaw on 26 May, 2020, 08:33:35 PM Hello,
I have three wheels like the black one in the attached picture, and one wheel like the white one. From what I understand, the white wheel is "correct" for my 4th series B20, and the black wheel is of the 5th-6th series type. So what are my options? Will the 5th/6th series wheels fit at all, or must I try to locate 3 more 3rd/4th series wheels? Thank you :) PS! Please excuse the shabby shoes in the picture :) Title: Re: Wheels Post by: Sliding Pillar on 27 May, 2020, 09:04:13 AM You are correct in identifying the wheels. If you are going to do the job properly you will need a set of the correct wheels. Be mindful that the rolled rims corrode from the inside!
You can get new wheels from Cavalitto https://www.oldlanciaspares.com/1234-lancia-AURELIAA-ricambio-cerchio-ruota-per-modelli-3-4-serie.php Title: Re: Wheels Post by: impaw on 27 May, 2020, 09:19:38 AM Thank you for your reply Ade.
The white ( correct ) wheel is very corroded on the inside, with rustholes here and there... So, I need 4 new wheels. Might as well get one more 5th-6th series wheels and have a spare track day set :) Title: Re: Wheels Post by: chriswgawne on 27 May, 2020, 11:17:39 AM I wonder how much the new wheels from Cavalitto are?
Chris Title: Re: Wheels Post by: impaw on 27 May, 2020, 11:20:47 AM I am afraid to ask :D
Title: Re: Wheels Post by: Sliding Pillar on 28 May, 2020, 01:04:56 PM Or you could get a set of Borranis

Title: Re: Wheels Post by: will on 28 May, 2020, 06:39:44 PM I was told by Cavalitto the wheels he produced were for 5th/6th series cars
Title: Re: Wheels Post by: impaw on 28 May, 2020, 07:28:39 PM I have now asked him for a quote, so we will find out :)
Title: Re: Wheels Post by: chriswgawne on 28 May, 2020, 08:37:36 PM Will is correct. You can see that from the pictures on Cavalittos website.
If you are desperate for wheels to move your car around or drive it, I have a set of 5 hollow rim 2.5l B20 wheels with new Michelin tyres and tubes with Newmarket grey rims and correct cream centres in the UK you can borrow. Or alternatively I have a set of 4 Tecnomagnesio magnesium allow wheels here as well with new 15" Michelin XAS tyres fitted you can borrow. Kind regards Chris Title: Re: Wheels Post by: impaw on 28 May, 2020, 08:46:38 PM Thats a very kind offer Chris!
The car is many years away from driving, but is soon ready to lower from the jig that has been its legs for decades and onto wheels. So I might take you up on that offer, thank you! I might be mistaken but aren't these 3-4th series wheels? https://www.oldlanciaspares.com/1234-lancia-AURELIAA-sparepart-wheel-serie-3-4.php And these are 5-6th series? https://www.oldlanciaspares.com/470-lancia-AURELIAA-sparepart-wheel-for-5---6-serie.php Title: Re: Wheels Post by: Niels Jonassen on 28 May, 2020, 09:30:59 PM Dare I suggest that you find four Citroën B11 wheels if you have corroded rolled rim wheels?. The Citroën used 165x400mm Michelin X tyres. You can weld the Citroën rims to the Aurelia wheel centre provided that the webs of the wheel centres are bent in slightly, because the Citroën rim has a deaper section than the Lancia wheels. Definitely not original but the only solution open to me when I had had two corroded rims split away giving me a fine opportunity to inspect the tubes. In fact only one person has as yet discovered the change.
Title: Re: Wheels Post by: impaw on 29 May, 2020, 07:18:57 AM that is a great tip Niels!
Thank you. |
