Title: Fulvia S1 Girling conversion Post by: simonpen on 03 August, 2020, 04:25:10 PM Rossocorsaitalia have a Girling (front) brake conversion kit for S1 Fulvias. Didn't think this was doable. Does anyone have any experience of it?

Does anyone have any experience of it? Why would you want to? Properly maintained there's nothing wrong with the Dunlop set up, I've been over the Pyrenees and the alps a number of times, and in 20 years I've never had a problem, certainly high pedal pressure is required, but they have excellent feel.Brian 8227 8) Title: Re: Fulvia S1 Girling conversion Post by: lancialulu on 03 August, 2020, 06:12:46 PM Rossocorsaitalia have a Girling (front) brake conversion kit for S1 Fulvias. I am also looking at this plus adding a S2 servo, I mocked it up and seems to have enough room.
Title: Re: Fulvia S1 Girling conversion Post by: jus on 04 August, 2020, 01:11:23 PM I think my S1 has this modification and it has 13" wheels.
I'll take some pics and try to upload them. Title: Re: Fulvia S1 Girling conversion Post by: Justin McArdle on 04 August, 2020, 03:44:41 PM My Fulvia Berlina 2C has dunlop brakes (calipers recently replaced with new units) and non standard servo - see photo

The geometry of the brake and clutch pedal mountings on S1 cars is different to those of S2 and S3. If you try to fit an S2 master-cylinder and servo you need to make a serious modification to the spacer link tube that goes between the bulkhead and the servo. Somewhere I have drawings to show the critical angles and dimensions for cutting and welding. My advice is don’t do it – stay with Dunlop!

There is another forum where this conversion is well documented.
The adding of the servo was exercise that I wanted to see if I could solve, with it being reversible. So looking at the space and geometry it looks like it can be done, I will need to change the connecting rod where it meets the pedal and fabricate a mounting plate of the right depth, angle and from 2 to 4 bolts. The biggest issue is that it’s very close to the steering box. Title: Re: Fulvia S1 Girling conversion Post by: simonpen on 05 August, 2020, 03:45:57 PM Thanks for the replies. I shan't be going down this route as the Dunlop system in good nick is good enough and the conversion I saw is pricey. I have been told that the easiest way is to source a pair of S2 uprights and callipers. Not sure why one would bother with the extra hassle of fitting a servo although my S of course has a remote servo already but I'd be happy enough without servo assistance.
