by a stroke of good fortune I now have a low mileage engine. I am not a mechanic, my friend is a mechanic, however he has no Delta knowledge. Can anyone loan / sell me a 'engine rebuild method'. I tried on ebay, purchased a cd manual, but it was a later Integrale 2000 engine version. Hopefully it will just work out as a straight swop of engine, but it will add confidence to my mechanic to have a paper / cd manual to hand. I live near Derby and can collect no problem. many thanks Keith (Lancisti and LMC member since 1985, always a Beta driver, until now). You could try contacting Chris Hopkins , the club's librarian (01488 73325), he may know of a specific manual for your car, or try Mercian Manuals on 01676533304. the good thing about being in the LMC is the helpful nature of the members. :) Title: Re: engine wanted, for my 1989 Delta 1600 HF ie Post by: fensaddler on 29 April, 2008, 08:34:19 PM Its the Midlands Lancia mafia network Keith - works a treat!

I have never had any complaints about the LMC or its members, all fantastic people. I see you live nearby at Walsall, I will let you know when I make my sprint debut at Curborough as it is only about 15 miles from you. I will need all the support I can get ! The last time I saw a Lancia driven here in anger (ie NOT a trackday by the Monte Carlo owners club) was a dark blue Fulvia coupe that came all the way down from Scotland about 3 years ago. It will be nice to have other Lancias in abundance on my big day. best regards Keith Title: Re: engine wanted, for my 1989 Delta 1600 HF ie Post by: ncundy on 05 May, 2008, 09:41:03 AM I was a Curborough yesterday for the VSCC sprint yesterday. Only two Lancias, my dads B20 and Paul and Gay Atkinson in their Lambda, but a great day. I am in Littleover so only 20 mins away - let us know the dates.

I was also at Curborough yesterday (mine were the kids more interested in climbing the tree near the entrance loo's, but they did have the best view, sheltered too). Your Dad's Aurelia and the (also) superb Lambda made the day. Did you see the 30's Alfa Spyder 1750 Zagato ? owner is a friend of mine, he bought it in the 60's for under £100 ! ! It is worth a fortune in todays money. The event was worth going to just to see the single cylinder 'baked Potato making' Peugeot machine, Plus the Itala was awesome. I could imagine Vincenzo sat astride it, a century ago. I have photos if you did not take any. I will let you know when I am ready to race. regards Keith Title: Re: engine wanted, for my 1989 Delta 1600 HF ie Post by: ncundy on 05 May, 2008, 05:30:45 PM This one ? I was parked just behind it. Absolutely georgous - my kids were stuffing themselves with ice cream just by the hairpin.
This is the only one I got of the Peugeot - I nearly got run over by it in the paddock, but "I couldn't hear it coming" is not really a defense is it ! Brilliant ! Title: Re: engine wanted, for my 1989 Delta 1600 HF ie Post by: Keith Large on 06 May, 2008, 12:49:48 PM Hello Neil,
yes that is the Alfa, its looks are gorgeous. By the third run, the Peugeot was adjusted somewhat, with the revs up to 100 per minute !! but it was so wonderful to see such an eccentric machine being used on a track. engine now installed and running pretty well (considering it has been stood since 1991), with occasional misfire and exhaust backfire, but will get there. The technical manual I acquired covers for HF model Delta, but not the ie version. I also have brand new sparkplugs and a new distributor cap to install tonight which may help. The turbo / induction sounds wonderful, and I dare not yet twiddle the turbo boost switch as it seems scary enough at the moment thank you very much ;D Another problem is - I have a metal bracket next to the washer bottle (under the bonnet) that holds a black plastic Weber part which has a 2 pin socket and a small bore pipe attached. Q. Where should this bracket be located please? It is approx 200mm x 80 x 30mm in size. Another problem is on the dash - the Mileometer needle goes straight to 180 miles an hour even though I am not moving and when I come to a halt the mileometer adds a mile every 30 seconds approx. (no wonder the mileage is high ! ). I presume getting a second hand dash console will not solve this problem ? Is it simply a ECU problem ( I have seen a couple advertised on ebay last week ). Another problem is a plug that goes into the casting that hides the injectors - With this plug disconnected, the car runs good, but if I connect the plug the running is stifled / rough / erratic. - any ideas please ? Excuse my ignorance as I am just a simple Beta / Fulvia owner normally ??? If anyone fairly locally as a 1600 HFie, i would be happy to drive to you, just to compare engine bays etc. I cannot wait until the AGM as I need to use the car at Curborough June 1st. many thanks in anticipation, Keith |
