Title: 1960 price list for new cars in Italy
Post by: CesareFerrari on 22 March, 2021, 11:26:20 AM
This is interesting in the light of discussions elsewhere about the cost of the great postwar Lancias when new. Import duties will complicate the comparisons, and I do not know what EEC tariffs applied to French and German cars. Enjoy!

PS: it also has interesting information, including sales in 1959, and the number of cars on the road in the different regions of Italy.

I think import duties make all the difference. 1962 Glass' Guide puts a Flaminia Berlina at twice the price of a 2.4 Jaguar saloon. This, in 1960, puts a 2.4 Jaguar saloon in Italy at 10% more expensive than the Flaminia.

... and an Austin A40 is more than an Appia! Curiously in Britain the Appia was twice the price of a Fiat 1100, whereas in Italy it was only 30% more.
