Title: Y10 FIRE LX Post by: Kevinlincs on 09 May, 2021, 04:36:22 PM My recently self restored Y10 is now with Mathewsons to be auction off on Friday 4th June.
Loads of pictures of it here on the build thread, https://www.lancia.myzen.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=11553.0 A more brief summary though is that it shows just over 38k on the clock which given the service history and MoT details appears to be correct. I fitted new outer sills and repaired the rear wheel arches and anything else that needed doing including the front windcsreen removed and any rust cut out. Mechanically it got a new clutch, timing belt & water pump, CV boots, brakes, new shocks, suspension bushes etc. All suspension arms and complete rear axle were blasted and powder coated or wet painted, nothing went back on unless in good condition. All fluids renewed, new filters etc. The interior is unmarked and in great condition as you'd expect from such low miles. Everything works such as the electric windows, central locking etc, apart from the radio as it's never had one fitted! I did fit a new DAB roof aerial though so it is ready for the modern world! I drove it the 110 miles or so up to North Yorkshire without fault or worry so the buyer can be assured that it is perfectly capable of being driven away from the auction house, although collection/delivery can be arranged with them. Things that may need doing? For me the back exhaust box is a bit too raspy for my taste , so I'd change that for a better quality one, sounds as though the baffling isn't quite enough even though it was a new one. The brakes work fine but could probably benefit from another bleed as everything was renewed with new, right from the master cylinder through the pipes and flexi-hoses down to the regulator and wheel cylinders. Calipers were rebuilt with new seals, by modern standards there's a tad more travel than you'd perhaps expect bu they function well, even the rear footbrake worked well on the MoT rollers which is unheard of for these! Handbrake holds well on hills etc. Not huge faults but I want to be clear as I won't be the one selling it. The reserve is set low so it will sell for what it sells at, hopefully somewhere close to what I've spent although the main aim when I bought the car was to save a Lancia from being scrapped as the cost of repairs would be more than any sane person would spend....where I came in! ;D It is Lot 64 on Mathewsons website, which is undergoing an update so i hope the pictures will be updated and sorted soon, as nice as an engine picture is! The link to the build thread will provide a more thorough description though. https://www.mathewsons.co.uk/ Title: Re: Y10 FIRE LX Post by: SanRemo78 on 09 May, 2021, 06:04:33 PM Can you get Mathewsons to include a link to the restoration thread? Or is that in a section of the Forum that's members only? I'm sure that there'll be people within the club bidding!
Good luck with the sale! Guy Title: Re: Y10 FIRE LX Post by: Kevinlincs on 09 May, 2021, 06:31:40 PM Good idea Guy, I'll ask if it can be included in the details page. 8)

Great video are you getting one for the Y10 Kevin? Clarkey Title: Re: Y10 FIRE LX Post by: Kevinlincs on 09 May, 2021, 07:57:11 PM Yes, some nice stuff for sale. Went to one of their auctions in 2019, was due to go again last year but like a lot of stuff that wasn't possible.
There will be a walk around video shot and some more pics that just engine shots up soon! Title: Re: Y10 FIRE LX Post by: Kevinlincs on 09 May, 2021, 08:00:19 PM There's also an integrale due to be in the same auction which was already on site. His and hers Lancia for someone!?

Title: Re: Y10 FIRE LX Post by: Kevinlincs on 10 May, 2021, 06:22:01 PM Just a small selection
Title: Re: Y10 FIRE LX Post by: Kevinlincs on 24 May, 2021, 06:05:52 PM The car is available to view or ask anything about at Mathewsons.
A link to their website here, which now has a short video appraisal by Derek Mathewson himself https://www.mathewsons.co.uk/product/1988-lancia-y10-fire-lx-current-v5-present-paperwork-includes-some-old-mots-and-a-few-invoices-and-lancia-handbookwe-highly-recommend-that-you-view-in-person-any-potential-purchase-and-take-time-t/ Please be kind to him though, he says it as he sees it which I find in life is all you can ask for so don't take Umbridge at the Fiat reference. He, and all the family team come to that, have to deal with a huge array of different vehicles so they can't be expected to be a marque expert on everything, on the couple of times I've met him we found him to be as straight as a die and as I say, I'd rather have that than someone telling you only what you wanted to hear. Rather this than a faceless big multi-national company. Title: Re: Y10 FIRE LX Post by: frankxhv773t on 24 May, 2021, 07:04:48 PM Re FIAT, even I say a Y10 is a Panda in a party dress.
Title: Re: Y10 FIRE LX Post by: Kevinlincs on 24 May, 2021, 07:20:32 PM But what a nice part dress eh Frank 8)
Title: Re: Y10 FIRE LX Post by: mikeC on 25 May, 2021, 08:18:39 AM Of course, it's not really a Fiat either, it's an Autobianchi!
Title: Re: Y10 FIRE LX Post by: fay66 on 25 May, 2021, 06:02:46 PM All Lancias have been Fiat's since 1970,
If some in name only. Brian 8227 8) Title: Re: Y10 FIRE LX Post by: Kevinlincs on 03 June, 2021, 07:29:32 PM Tomorrow evening, starting at 6PM, the Mathewsons aiction is on....Lot64 is the Y10...should be between 7-30 and 8-30 I'd imagine.
Shame the details I sent in and underfloor pictures didn't get on the listing, guess they only use pictures they take themselves to ensure accuracy of descriptions, but would have been nice to see some. Saying that though I probably should have made more of an effort to point it out. I'll be really interested to see what the market makes of it though. Anybody got any guesses? Title: Re: Y10 FIRE LX Post by: SanRemo78 on 03 June, 2021, 07:50:16 PM My bet - £2750? I wonder if they're filming this weekend?
Title: Re: Y10 FIRE LX Post by: Kevinlincs on 03 June, 2021, 08:44:31 PM Yes, the film crew will be there I'd say, seems like there's always one on hand.
Be nice if the little Y10 made it onto TV wouldn't it. I know Richards' Fulvia sedan got some good shooting done when they collected it from him, he got an interview and everything so maybe that will make the next series of Bangers and Cash.. Title: Re: Y10 FIRE LX Post by: Kevinlincs on 04 June, 2021, 06:48:47 PM Hammer down at £3,500.
Not bad for a little Lancia, someone will have fun for a good few years. Title: Re: Y10 FIRE LX Post by: lancianut666 on 04 June, 2021, 08:26:00 PM Excellent! do we know the new owner?
Title: Re: Y10 FIRE LX Post by: frankxhv773t on 05 June, 2021, 08:57:48 AM Put together with the asking price for the white one with the dealer near Newark which sold in January last year it suggests the market price for a good, low mileage Y10 FIRE is now £3,500 to £4,000. It certainly proves the wisdom of going to auction where there isn't a clear market level for a particular car.
Title: Re: Y10 FIRE LX Post by: Justhb on 07 June, 2021, 12:08:29 PM Dear all
Just to let everyone know that I was the successful bidder and the car will be for my 18 year old daughter - her first car. The Y10 joins a few other Italians! Kappa, Beta Coupe vx, Beta Spider, Alfa Sud GCL, Maserati QP5. I look forward to getting the car and Hope my daughter enjoys it! Title: Re: Y10 FIRE LX Post by: grandespud on 07 June, 2021, 12:19:50 PM Dear all Just to let everyone know that I was the successful bidder and the car will be for my 18 year old daughter - her first car. The Y10 joins a few other Italians! Kappa, Beta Coupe vx, Beta Spider, Alfa Sud GCL, Maserati QP5. I look forward to getting the car and Hope my daughter enjoys it! Congratulations on a great purchase! And lovely to see it's clearly going to a good home in that sort of company. Will you be persuading your daughter to take it to shows too?! I had a Y10 in my late teens as well - served me well buzzing up and down between Leeds and Taunton regularly. Cheers, Paul Title: Re: Y10 FIRE LX Post by: Justhb on 07 June, 2021, 12:50:10 PM Yes - I’m hoping that I can help her get to some events here in sunny Somerset/Bristol region!
Title: Re: Y10 FIRE LX Post by: Kevinlincs on 08 June, 2021, 07:44:23 PM I know I have no right to say who bought the car with me sending it to auction, but I was over the moon to get the email yesterday from Justin especially knowing it would be going to such a good home, that it didn't go to a dealer then get lost is great.
Looking forward to hearing about it once down to you. 8) Title: Re: Y10 FIRE LX Post by: Justhb on 09 June, 2021, 10:17:10 PM We are looking forward to the delivery of the car tomorrow morning (Thursday) and to get out and driving it.
I’m hoping to take it to the AGM - along with possibly the Kappa Coupe. |
