Hello,

It is maddening when instruments on the dashboard don't work and  had exactly your experience with the clock in my '72 S2 Coupe.
I sent mine off to JDO Instruments. They are in Keighley, West Yorkshire. They replaced the old movement with a Quartz one and I have had no problems with it since. All guaranteed of course and no VAT. The only visual difference is that the new movement does not have a second hand.
I hope this helps.

Kind regards,

Al.

Probably gunked up inside/contacts bad etc. Mine was like that, so sent it off to

https://speedycables.com/

came back good as new, well 40 odd years old, but it’s been fine since.

Excellent! That's worth knowing for the next project.

This months edition of Practical Classics has an article on repairing car clocks. Not sure how much actual use it would be, but maybe worth a look.

Jaeger used lecoulture mechanism. A good old school click/ watch repairer should be able to correctly oil it back to life.
