Title: Series 2 Engine Support
Post by: V8estate on 14 January, 2022, 02:56:11 PM
Hi
My engine support is missing. I have seen this which I am going to purchase.
I wanted to know if there is anything that fits on the subframe,( rubber bush for example ) or is this the complete support
thanks in advance

It also needs a nut to lock it on the sidearm. The manuela says the clearance from the subframe should be about 2 mm, Andrea

Not on Series 2 - assume you have the arm that bolts from  the crankcase below the alternator?

I may have a  new old stock item. PM me if  interested.

Hi
Yes I have the arm. I also have the threaded support but it has no rubber on the end, so need a new one of these.
If you have one, I would be interested as I was going to buy one from Italy
Thanks

it has no rubber on the end,

Relatively easy to find some thick rubber (4-5mm) and bond it with superglue....

Mine didn’t have the rubber buffer on it so I used a cotton reel type exhaust mount and cut a section of it out using an electric drill to spin it and a stationary hacksaw blade to cut it. Use flexible glue to stick the resulting pad on to the screwed unit.

Yesterday I inspected an ex Italian ex South African series 1 1.3 Rally S or dating purposes..
The engine steady was bolted to the subframe, different to the one referred here, with the rubber pad, the same as on my 2c.
And casting my mind back over 20 years ago, I seem to remember the one on my 1969 RHD UK 1 3 Rallye Coupe was the same.
