Title: Left hand thread nuts Post by: simonandjuliet on 25 August, 2022, 11:44:06 AM As you know, some older 30's and 40's Lancias have left hand thread wheel nuts on the passenger side (RHD cars) - Aprilias, Ardeas for sure and probably Augusta, etc etc
We have routinely been tipping cars on their side using a roller system so that they can be welded, undersealed or cleaned and so on. The tipping plates are bolted to the drums using the wheel nuts. I didn't like all the pressure being on the cone of the wheel nut , so I turned down some RH thread wheel nuts (with large washers) so that the load is better spread across the plates - but I don't have enough LH thread wheel nuts to be able to sacrifice 8 I have been able to source some LH thread nuts of the correct pitch and diameter (M14x1.5) but had to buy a minimum of 50 ! So if anyone is interested in some (not for bolting wheels on .......) for similar work, they are available - 15 pounds sterling for 8 (I don't have a pound sign on my French keyboard !) plus any eventual postage charges Title: Re: Left hand thread nuts Post by: Kari on 25 August, 2022, 04:43:29 PM The Augusta has too.
