Title: indicator repeater
Post by: Spider2 on 17 May, 2023, 12:46:10 PM
Not having much luck with getting the car ready for MOT and Italian trip.
One of the front indicator repeaters was not working. Two problems. Need to drill the screws out, but more serious is wire into the bulb holder has broken and the bulb holder looks bad anyway. Has anyone got a spare? I have looked on eBay=-y for a replacement but cannot find any. Series 1 sport, they are triangular in shape.
Cheers
Simon

Would these somewhat pricey ones be what you are after?

For expediency and so that the trip isn't affected could you use something generic/ readily available and make it original later?

i agree, good value.
Post Brexit what is the value of goods below which the exporter has little paperwork to do? Does anyone know? Brexit is a nightmare, it cost me my business. IMO stupid and short sighted.

I'm not sure if this answers your question, however, anything I've purchased totalling less than £135 hasn't been subject to VAT.
Anything over that will be subject to VAT and Customs Duties.
This is my personal experience and I'm happy to be corrected!
I'm not sure that purchases via ebay follow this rule?

I think it depends on the eBay seller. If they're registered as a business then VAT is charged automatically by eBay on the price of the goods and shipping. If they're not a business seller then it depends on the declared valuation they put on the form. I'm grateful to a recent private seller who declared a lower value on something that might have been chargeable! The cost was slightly over the £135/€150 limit.

I've bought a few things of Pieces Fulvia, less than £150 each time, and they've just arrived through the post as usual in about 3 days. If there was any VAT I guess they charged it and I paid it when I completed the purchase transaction.

My friend has a pillar drill so we got the cover screws out and drilled out the center of the holder to re-solder the + cable. The big problem was the old bulb was heavily corroded into the holder. Eventually got it out, but after cleaning off all the rust the new bulb would not fit snugly to make earth contact. A bit of tin foil packing has done the job. Not ideal but will get through the MOT whilst I await a new one from Germany. My local aero model shop had exactly the correct machine screws for the cover. I can't remember what size he said they were but they measure about M2.25.
I good day's fettling with + result.
Just hope a company in Chesterfield can make me a gear wheel for the tail gate opening mechanism (see my other post).

Only just seen this, do you have a photo of the bulb holder?
Ì have an old series 1 Berlina harness and its possible I might have what you're looking for, if I have your welcome to it.

For clarity the total is including all post/courier charges.

Thanks Fay. All back on the car now awaiting MOT. will have a look later but looking at the bulb holder i suspect it would not come out without damaging the base.
