Title: Via Flaminia Classic 2023 rally Post by: FERGTS246 on 30 September, 2023, 01:19:09 PM Just returned from the above that took us through wonderful towns, villages and landscapes in Tuscany and Umbria. Its great taking the Flaminia Touring, not only because the rally is named after it, but also because it handles the roads and attracts lots of attention from the locals - even in Italy it's a rarely seen car.
It dealt with all road conditions very well, from sharp hairpins in the Apennines to long straights on the wide flat 'pianos' in Grosetto. The rally finished in stunning Capalbio in Tuscany. From there we drove up to Milan to visit the Alfa museum. Then up the west side of Lake Como, to St Moritz, over the Fluela Pass, then overnighting in Stuttgart to visit the Porsche museum the next day. Then on to Riems, then Paris to visit my daughter and then home. The Flaminia worked like a dream after having to take out the faulty electronic ignition 3 days before leaving to replace it with the original distributor and coil! May be there's a lesson there. All in all, a really enjoyable 2 week trip in a great, civilised car; what's not to like! What was the issue with the electronic ignition? Title: Re: Via Flaminia Classic 2023 rally Post by: lancialulu on 04 October, 2023, 05:54:15 AM Hope you write it up for VL!

Also did warmer air temperature improve running? My Flaminia certainly likes warmer weather but I am not sure if this is the warmer air available or that the engine warms up more readily. I didn't notice it running any better in the warm weather.
I'll try to remember the trip to write up for VL. the trouble is most evenings descended into a haze that meant I can remember the driving days but not necessarlity in the right order. I'm away for the next 5 weeks so will attempt a draft once I've got the road book in front of me.
