Title: Rear window demist Post by: HBG on 20 October, 2023, 03:01:18 PM Hi folks.
My rear screen demist doesn't work. I've tested what I believe are the wires in the boot and have 12v when switched on and what seems like a good earth. When disconnected I do not have continuity through the back wires that lead to the screen. Any suggestions what to do next? If you want to risk it you can remove the screen and try to clean up the copper contacts but I think you will probably have to find another screen.

The wires rise up through the parcel shelf and disappear behind the screen rubber. Do you know what sort of connection there is there? Could that be where a problem lies?

You have to remove the rubber to get to them.

Thanks Title: Re: Rear window demist Post by: LCR1967 on 02 November, 2023, 03:19:41 PM Without trying to hijack this thread. Has anyone installed/fitted an aftermarket rear screen heater like this one: https://www.holden.co.uk/p/screen_heater_12_volt?s
Title: Re: Rear window demist Post by: HBG on 02 November, 2023, 03:30:05 PM I had a look at that from Holden but imagine it wouldn't be an elegant solution.
Not yet seen a pic of the screen contacts, so I don't know if mine is repairable insitu. If I could get a stick on element that ran along the bottom of the screen I'd be happy. Title: Re: Rear window demist Post by: lancialulu on 02 November, 2023, 06:06:15 PM Seen this.

Continuity from the wires through the brass channel and the copper strip around the edges to the ally tape within the glass laminate. Then nothing between the ally tape at each side. Really close inspection of the filaments meeting the ally tape showed corrosion and breakage.
So this screen won't ever heat again. It's back in for now, possibly forever as a new heated rear screen isn't available and I don't think I'll bother with a second hand one. So far in my ownership the rear screen has cleared quickly as the car warms up. https://www.heatedwindscreen.com/collections/lancia/Standard-Windscreen If you wanted them to see if they could make a replacement heated rear screen for you (or a consortium) all I think they need is a pattern screen? Someone must have one lying around doing not very much? Guy Title: Re: Rear window demist Post by: GlynW on 23 December, 2023, 09:01:34 PM This company makes a heated front windscreen for the Fulvia. Hi Guy,https://www.heatedwindscreen.com/collections/lancia/Standard-Windscreen Although they do list heated windscreens for Delta, Montecarlo and Stratos, the Fulvia front screen is in their 'standard' (i.e. non-heated) range. It might be worth an enquiry though about custom heated rear screens, if this is an issue for many people. They all said they couldn't or wouldn't replicate the Fulvia rear screen.
Perhaps with a big enough order someone might, but I don't have the ability to organise such. |
