Title: Mud flap opinions please Post by: HBG on 28 October, 2023, 08:09:29 PM What do you think? I mocked up some mudflaps earlier today as I'd like to protect the paintwork and like the look of them.
They will be black pvc Opinions please. Thanks Title: Re: Mud flap opinions please Post by: HBG on 28 October, 2023, 08:10:31 PM Another pic
Title: Re: Mud flap opinions please Post by: Spider2 on 29 October, 2023, 11:12:13 AM Absolutely not. Makes it look like the back end of a Morris Marina
Title: Re: Mud flap opinions please Post by: fay66 on 29 October, 2023, 11:41:33 AM Absolutely not. Makes it look like the back end of a Morris Marina Unless absolutely needed, such as on a rally cars, they do nothing for the car, if you're that worried use clear stone chip.Ask yourself, how many Fulvias have you seen with mudflaps? There's a good reason for that! Title: Re: Mud flap opinions please Post by: Wangler on 29 October, 2023, 12:44:39 PM No, no a thousand times no, I'd rather die than say yes. (with apologies to Betty Boop!)
Title: Re: Mud flap opinions please Post by: HBG on 29 October, 2023, 03:50:39 PM My parents had a Marina. They also had a car called Marina.
So, you don't like them it seems...... Anyone else? I thought lots of Fulvias had flaps? This car is for driving not polishing (well, a bit of polishing!). I think the rally flaps with a bit of loo chain probably too much. Title: Re: Mud flap opinions please Post by: Richard Fridd on 29 October, 2023, 04:25:40 PM "Anyone else". I probably wouldn't fit these to my Flaminia, as it seems very difficult to improve the original appearance.

Three 1.6 Lussos, one 1.3 Sport, and two 1.3 coupes. Not one of us ever considered putting on mudflaps. I’ve never seen a Fulvia with mudflaps unless its been a fairly serious rally car.
If you want to add something that IMO looks good, I would suggest a pair of period Cibies such as the slimline Iode 45, preferably with the covers. A 150 mm Carello foglight makes a good looking and effective reversing light. Title: Re: Mud flap opinions please Post by: JollyClubUK on 29 October, 2023, 06:21:51 PM It’s a big no for me, I have group 3 arches that compliment my Fulvia nicely.
Title: Re: Mud flap opinions please Post by: HBG on 29 October, 2023, 07:58:20 PM I hear ya!
I like the plastic arches, good with the alloys. Also like the Cibie's. Might do the alloys thing next year as I think they look great. Cibie's are on my list already for after I've sorted led headlight lamps. I might experiment with some shorty cardboard flaps..... Title: Re: Mud flap opinions please Post by: CesareFerrari on 29 October, 2023, 09:59:57 PM Your car looks such a nice one. Do you think it will look better if things are added to it? A good Fulvia in original condition is an increasingly rare thing.

Thanks, love the look of my Fulvia now period Cibies 9 inch Oscar’s had to use Mark 1 Ford Escort alloy brackets that we had to modify but very happy with them. At the end of the day any modifications you make is all down to personal choice and that’s the route I have taken. A good Fulvia in original condition is an increasingly rare thing. Thank you. I only want to make modifications that will make it more usable and improve its reliability. As it's a car that Iives outside I intend to use it in all weathers limiting its use only when there is salt down. Mudflaps are for protecting the paintwork but perhaps I'll leave it until I feel a stronger need. I'd consider doing a regularly rally next year, and for that it may be prudent. I'll wait for now. Thank you all Title: Re: Mud flap opinions please Post by: Charles Frodsham on 30 October, 2023, 04:55:26 PM That’s a hilarious thread 😂😂😂
Title: Re: Mud flap opinions please Post by: HBG on 30 October, 2023, 05:09:50 PM My folks had a bright orange Marina estate with a hilariously badly fitted rear hatch. WVE 879T, funny how you remember some things. Pretty sure it was poverty spec so no flaps. Of course, I also had a Marina, but a van hand me down from my Dad when he replaced his work van. He was offered so little as a trade in I had it when at Uni.
Title: Re: Mud flap opinions please Post by: Charles Frodsham on 30 October, 2023, 06:08:52 PM Maybe these will keep the Lancia community happy…..OEM mudflaps from Italy 😉

I had a set, but I sold them as I didn't think they were a good look. Note the Rally Marina didn’t have mud flaps! Title: Re: Mud flap opinions please Post by: nthomas1 on 31 October, 2023, 01:23:55 PM I recall seeing quite a few Fulvia Coupes with mud flaps when I had my first Fulvia back in the late 1970s. I seem to be in the minority in that I thought they looked quite smart. Haven't put them on my car though! Title: Re: Mud flap opinions please Post by: Charles Frodsham on 01 November, 2023, 10:43:23 AM C’mon Norm and Howard, feel the fear anyway, Mudflap Splinter Group!
Anyone else “coming out” 😂 Title: Re: Mud flap opinions please Post by: jus on 01 November, 2023, 08:02:17 PM My works car has them on:

Title: Re: Mud flap opinions please Post by: HBG on 06 December, 2023, 08:21:40 PM Now this looks nice 👍 Yes, I like that. I'm unconvinced by the flaps that mount far behind the wheel arch, seems to defeat the point. I've now got four cardboard mudflaps to mock up for when it stops raining. Been side tracked by the fitment of hazards, then re-doing it with a better switch. And the new stereo with hands free and Bluetooth. Just back from a short drive to unwind after a busy day.....had a Spotify playlist called Mellow Classics on......found myself enjoying some Barbra Streisand.... Title: Re: Mud flap opinions please Post by: HBG on 19 February, 2024, 06:31:06 PM Finally got round to fitting the mudflaps. What do you think?
Title: Re: Mud flap opinions please Post by: HBG on 19 February, 2024, 06:31:58 PM Another angle.
Title: Re: Mud flap opinions please Post by: HBG on 19 February, 2024, 06:35:30 PM Slightly worried about their longevity.........
Title: Re: Mud flap opinions please Post by: HBG on 23 June, 2024, 09:29:47 AM Revisiting this thread because of the strange turn it took.
I've come across two old photos that made me laugh, so I thought I'd share. ULC 320X, scabby brown Marina van that I took to uni in 1990. Title: Re: Mud flap opinions please Post by: nthomas1 on 23 June, 2024, 02:43:07 PM If I was fitting mud flaps I'd try to find the Lancia ones. You can see them on Keith Rutter's car in Crouch End. Not far from you Howard.
