Title: Upholstery suppliers. Post by: HBG on 11 January, 2025, 08:25:18 PM I'm on the cusp of committing to reupholster the seats in my Fulvia 3. The stitching has been patched a few times and the vinyl has torn in one place. The seat back foam isn't supportive.
This is a job I want to do so I'll need a supplier of leather or vinyl and of replacement foam. I have new seat base cushions from Giuseppe which are fine. Could anyone recommend such a supplier? Any opinions on leather versus vinyl? Thanks Title: Re: Upholstery suppliers. Post by: fay66 on 12 January, 2025, 11:40:34 AM I'm on the cusp of committing to reupholster the seats in my Fulvia 3. Although not vinyl my leather look alike material in my Fulvia 2c is nearly 60 years old, it's still in excellent condition after 63,000 miles, 36,000 of them since 1999.the stiching went on one front cushion about 20 years ago, the other needs doing. Any opinions on leather versus vinyl? Thanks It often gets taken for leather and people are astonished when I tell them it's not. But my foam on the front cushion need replacing, unfortunately the coupe replacement doesn't fit the Berlina seats, so it needs the attention of a trimmer at some point. I'm not sure how it's lost the French thread detail whatever that is, as this is the original seating. Only the original owner before me and it had been off the road since 1976 when I found it in 1997 with only 27,000 miles on the clock, the interior was filthy dirty and took a lot of cleaning. So it had this seating from at least then, but I think it's safe to assume it's all original. Title: Re: Upholstery suppliers. Post by: frankxhv773t on 13 January, 2025, 02:28:07 PM "French stitch" means the extra row of stitches either side of the seam that joins two pieces of fabric together. Where your seat backs meet the sides, shown in your first picture, the concealed stitch holding it together is still there but the row of holes either side now have no thread where it would have been originally. This is the French stitching that, over time, has been lost
