Title: A20 HPE for sale Post by: lee69 on 30 September, 2008, 08:44:44 PM I'm sure I've seen this car in the past - silver 1984 HPE Volumex for sale (minus supercharger :-\) on ebay, item number 120311475831
Title: Re: A20 HPE for sale Post by: fay66 on 30 September, 2008, 11:47:08 PM Bit odd this ??? as I'm sure that was Alan Cooper's personal plate that he had on his 1999 Delta HPE Turbo, that now belongs to Stuart Harvey in Norwich. That being the case and bearing in mind that the vendor says it's been off the road 12 years, how come he thinks he can sell it with the car? The guy has already been queried about the plate but persists in the fiction that it is being sold with the car. At best this is ignorant misrepresentation, at worst outright and deliberate fraud.
Title: Re: A20 HPE for sale Post by: fensaddler on 01 October, 2008, 08:26:42 AM The plot thickens. This is the DVLA listing for that registration mark.
The vehicle details for A20 HPE are: Date of Liability 01 01 1997 Date of First Registration 15 02 1984 Year of Manufacture 1984 Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1995CC CO2 Emissions Not Available Fuel Type Petrol Export Marker Not Applicable Vehicle Status Unlicensed Vehicle Colour SILVER Vehicle Type Approval null So who does own that number legally? Title: Re: A20 HPE for sale Post by: fay66 on 01 October, 2008, 09:29:38 AM Sorry,
but it seems I have done the man an injustice and I've apologised. I emailed Alan last night & he has confirmed this morning that it was not his number as I had thought; I acted with the best of intentions (although I do realise that "The road to hell is paved with good intentions"); there are a lot of people out there who would take advantage & it seemed odd that the car still had a collectible number after years off the road, when it could have been sold, I'd sooner make a bit of a fool of myself than have a friend or fellow Lancisti conned. I did try to check the DVLA site last night to confirm what was registered as having that number, but the system was down. Here is the reply that I have received from him, "this car has been in storage at my garage for a number of years and i have now been given the car for disposal i have the v5 and im to give the previous owner money for the car hope this helps" Brian 8227 Title: Re: A20 HPE for sale Post by: Lindsay on 01 October, 2008, 07:21:48 PM Interesting one. This car is a couple of hours from me. Bloke said he would deliver it for £100. Lacking space for it sadly.
Title: Re: A20 HPE for sale Post by: fay66 on 02 October, 2008, 12:56:01 AM According to the 2000 Register it belonged to a Mr A.C.Borthwick (Alan Borthwick? why does that name ring a bell ???) who lived in Perth, so it all seems to tie up.
It's got to be worth that for the number plate although if it's bought soely for that, I would have though it would sell for a lot more money. Brian 8227 8) Title: Re: A20 HPE for sale Post by: fay66 on 02 October, 2008, 01:01:08 AM Chris,
the interior cloth looks the same as that in your Delta. Brian 8227 8) Title: Re: A20 HPE for sale Post by: Lindsay on 02 October, 2008, 05:42:40 AM The Borthwick name would make sense. He has had quite a few Lancias, 2000 coupe in gold, beta spyder and others. Leo Capaldi may know about this car?
I may be wrong but does a car not have to have an MOT before you can take the plate from it? Title: Re: A20 HPE for sale Post by: Philm on 02 October, 2008, 12:32:07 PM It does indeed need to have an MOT before you can transfer the plate. I also thought that the same plate was on a yellow Delta HPE?
