Title: fulvia timing marks Post by: peterbee on 06 November, 2008, 06:34:10 PM Hi all, Can anyone explain the total absence of any timing marks on the flywheel of my South African built S1 fulvia coupe? When I changed the timing chain recently I had to resort to feeling for TDC with a screwdriver down the spark plug hole! There is normally a "stepped" part in front of the ring gear with the marks on but mine appears to be flush.

Title: Re: fulvia timing marks Post by: chrislg on 06 November, 2008, 07:42:28 PM Series 1 Fulvias have a timing mark on a tooth of the flywheel which looks like an O. To time the engine you line this up with the 1|4 mark on the crankcase next to the aperture. For ignition timing you line the mark up with A|A mark on the crankcase.

The earliest Fulvias has a very small "p" stamped onto a tooth on the flywheel. -at least my 66 coupe has. This "p" is hardly noticeable, and it is often covered in oil, dirt and grime. |
