Title: Lancia increases sales during downturn in Europe
Post by: Alan Temple on 15 November, 2008, 07:55:56 PM
European Lancia sales were up 6.9%, thanks to the new Delta, in October compared to the same month last year. Lancia also outsold Alfa Romeo this October according to www.italiaspeed.com

I've seen the SMMT data and noted the same thing about out-selling Alfa!

quite right, Lancia are flying, if only the Italian market wasn't on its knees, they'd be doing much better too!

here are some examples across Europe... (october 08)

Italy, Lancia down 0.7% @ 7574, Italian market down 18.9%
Germany, Lancia up 55% @ 387, German market down 8.2%
France, Lancia up 51% @ 502, French market down 7.4%
Spain, Lancia up 87% @ 443, Spanish market down 40%

As you can see by the figures, Lancia are still very much small fry in all European markets bar Italy, but Delta is pointing them in the right direction & with spy shots of the new Ypsilon test mules now hitting the internet (based on Panda, & in 5 door only this time!), interest in the brand will continue to grow, & a brand that was knocking on deaths door, is now bursting into life!

I did also note that the Icelandic market is down 85%. Wherever the banks' money went, it wasn't on new cars...
