Title: Lancia Ypsilon 1.4 16v
Post by: Harvey on 03 March, 2009, 09:54:29 AM
Platino specification, in cream with tan leather interior. 2004 model, registered as new in the UK in August 2005. The car was on display at the 2006 NEC Classic Car Show.

The car has undergone engineering for use in the UK (headlight conversion, fog light transferred, MPH on the speedo dials, etc) and has single type approval.

The car comes with a dual sunroof, dual-zone climate control, cruise control, factory fitted Bose CD/radio with 6 speakers, and trip computer (in English!) I have had a Thatcham 2 immobiliser fitted in addition to the factory-fitted equipment.

The car has covered c. 69,000 miles since new and has a full service history (at the local Fiat / Alfa Romeo dealer), including the original purchase papers from the Italian garage, and shipping documentation.

Taxed until February 2010, and MOT until June 2009.

The car has been well-cared for and is in excellent condition.

Performance is sprightly rather than sporty, and the car consistently returns 46 – 48 mpg for both urban and motorway driving. (My personal record is 64 mpg whilst following a truck on the motorway!)

I have a change of job which means a longer commute so I am intending to return into my company’s car scheme, thus saving both the wear and tear, and my fuel bills!

Please contact me on (07967) 603396 or at harvey@lancia.me.uk

The car is in Bath. Any inspection welcome.

So the questions are - what company car are they letting you have, and are you getting a replacement Lancia?  ;D

I'll have to choose from the second-user list (not allowed to order new cars during the recession) but it's likely to be a Megane or Golf or similar. Bah.

On the plus side, my sister's garage is empty and she's not confident enough to park her own car in it. So, yes, another Lancia is on the cards. I'd really not like to be without a Lancia of some sort!

Given that choice, go for the Golf.  In silver or grey probably...

So - Gamma, Delta, Fulvia, Thema, Dedra?  So many choices, only one garage...

Hup!

Can't I tempt someone with this gem of a car?

Harvey, I'd recommend that you post ads for the Ypsilon on www.carandclassic.co.uk and www.fiatforum.com, these being the 2 routes that generated the most enquiries.  Both are free. I had a lot of enquiries from Brits who live or have holiday homes in France for my Ypsi.  Have you booked a place at Bristol, as you'll have somewhat of a biased audience?

By the way, I think Peter Baker's still selling his very nice white Dedra.

He's booked into Bristol as he's marshalling with me :)

The car has now reached 71,988 miles (give or take a mile) and is having the 72k service. This includes all belts changed and a thorough going over to tighten, tweak and adjust as required. I'm also having new brakes all round, so the car is in tip-top condition.

(I was dead chuffed that I was able to guess so closely when I'd hit 72k, as I'm now doing a fair few miles per week...)

The car is still for sale, and is now on 76,000 miles.

Consequently, I've adjusted the price to £3,800.

4000 miles in a month and a half. What you doing, living in it???

Yes, and it's a very comfy place to be!

Erm, the reason for the sale was the expected massive rise in commute distance - which has noticably come true.  :(

I would stop using it for the commute! At that rate it's going to be worth not a lot......Or, put another way, wait until it has 85k on the clock and you have to reduce the price to £2500 and I'll have it!  ;D

I don't have a choice - it's my only car!

What happened to the company car? Do what I did. I bought a W plate Fiat Marea wagon April 2008 for £750 at auction. Its done 15k miles since then - somewhat less a month than you're doing admittedly. Aside from routing maintenance, all its needed was a ball joint at the last MOT 3 weeks ago. Won't set the world alight but great thing to have - especially as its worth nothing so you can do what you like with it. Thoroughly recommend the "whocares" approach to motoring. Never have to worry about dings and scratches again!

At the moment I get paid to run the Ypsi as my company car. If I opt back into the company car scheme, I've still got the Ypsi (and still need to sell it) but get no contributions to the depreciation, etc. If no-one wants it, then I'll run it for as long as I'm allowed (5 years or 150k miles, whichever comes first) as the depreciation curve will flatten.

I'm still open to offers...

Going in for the 84k service on the 24th.

What price did you have in mind :)

Something not too far from £3,500 but if you're seriously interested, drop me a PM or e-mail with your phone number, and I can call to discuss...

A cursory scan of Autotrader.co.uk shows that Puntos of the same age (of much lower spec, but lower mileage) are priced between £3k and £4k, so I'd like to think I'm not too far off the mark. It's an impressively-equipped car, but I don't think people are used to "executive car" standards in a car of this size!

I've accepted an offer on e-Bay, so all being well, the car is now sold.

Well, the car was valeted last night, and I put a new tyre on the front off-side as it was showing wear on the inside edge. I'll get some photos for posterity, but the transport company is due to collect it this afternoon.  :'(

The lead times on new Fiestas are quite long (2010 on some variants!) so in the meantime, I have a 2006 Focus Ghia. I don't like it. It's not half the car the Ypsi is.  :(

She's going to a good home and will join a collection including a Triumph Stag, an XJS convertible, a Triumph Spitfire and an XJC awaiting re-commissioning.

I get sentimental over my cars!
