Title: Trevi timing belt
Post by: Thotos on 21 April, 2009, 11:03:15 AM
Having become a Trevi owner just a couple of days ago, here's my first question to show my ignorance. Which timing belt does the 2 litre Trevi need? I thought it should be the same as the 2 litre twin cam Fiats (131, 132 etc) but it seems not. I am confused...  :-\

Beta 2.0 should be 4201739 same as 131 etc. Trevi should also be the same. Ritmo/Strada 2.0 also is the same.

I had many Betas in my day,
The belts were the same as the 2.0 fiat twin cam as far as I can rember
the 1.6 belt is 2 teeth shorter as I found out many years ago with sweat rolling down my brow
trying to make it fit !!!
Check the condition of the tensioner bearing, there's no point in changing the belt if it jams
you'l be picking bits of valve out of your exhaust,
Good luck with the car

Thanks for the info and advice guys. Should be my weekend job. I was having a look last night and there's not a lot of room at the front of the engine in the transverse installation in the Trevi. Doesn't look as easy as changing the belt on my Fiat 131.  :-\

Had a lot of fun trying to get the lights to work last night. Ended up being a bad connection in the fuse box so I took it off, took it apart and re-soldered the offending pin. Works fine now but it was 1:30 in the morning by the time I finished.  ::) And just to make it all feel worthwhile I used the car to get to work today  ;D
