Title: Upload Folder Post by: fay66 on 27 April, 2009, 09:47:40 AM Anyone else having problems with the upload folder ???
I tried to upload something last night which wasn't a large file, + four photos of about 600kbs in total, only to be informed again that my "Upload Folder was full" Brian 8227 8) Title: Re: Upload Folder Post by: Neil on 27 April, 2009, 09:55:52 AM Brian, same message here 5 minutes ago, I will mail Harvey to investigate.

Title: Re: Upload Folder Post by: Harvey on 27 April, 2009, 12:12:09 PM I picked up Brian's e-mail this morning and doubled the size of the upload folder again :o. I'm loathe to delete the old attachments as there are some useful photos there, but I don't know how many terabytes we can take before the ISP complains...
Title: Re: Upload Folder Post by: ncundy on 27 April, 2009, 12:47:08 PM Any chance of asking the committee for a bit more funding so that we don't have this problem ?
If we want to have this resource as some kind of perpetual knowledge base it's not going to be worth the effort if every 6 months we have to skim a load of attachements off on a FIFO basis. At this rate all the photos of great restoration projects, problems and cars that people use for inspiration, advice, a picture is greater than a thousand words etc posted a couple of years ago will be gone in about 18 months. Its not really what we are about is it...............or is it? Title: Re: Upload Folder Post by: Harvey on 27 April, 2009, 04:03:53 PM Nope, I've not deleted any attachments, explicitly for the reasons you gave - for example, keeping the record of your Fanalone restoration. I was just rolling my eyes at how often I have to double the size of the folder! We're at about 20GB used so far. I don't know what our deal is, but I'm sure storage is cheap. Rest assured, everything posted is safe.
Title: Re: Upload Folder Post by: fay66 on 27 April, 2009, 06:27:52 PM Hi Harvey,
Thanks for upping the folder size again, but 20GB sounds pretty small beer in the scale of things where storage is concerned these days, I have a stand alone back up hard drive of 500GB and they are available at under a £100. While I appreciate paying someone else for storage is going to be more costly, surely it can't be that expensive? As you and Brian say, memory is so cheap now it would be a shame to spoil the ship for a hapeth of tar. |
