I recently had a very bad experience when I wanted to have my dynamo refurbished. I suggest you do not use Rockhall Auto Electrics, despite their being a long-established advertiser in The Automobile. The lesson is to always look for a personal reference first ( as I nearly always do! ) but I hope to be able to post a positive recommendation shortly.

Why bother having the dynamo rebuilt? when you can have one of Pete Hardings excellent altenator conversions for around the same price!!  I hear he has now done the conversion on Flaminias and Appia too.

Thanks folks - the dynamo is at Cox Electrical in Atherstone, recommended by John Savage. Don't know about the cost yet.....
I prefer to have the old unit restored if possible - and I don't need the extra power of an alternator - on the SP Rally I could go 2 days without charging the battery!!

I have used Cox Electrical for several Aurelia dynamos and always found them excellent and enthusiastic.

To bring you up to date - Cox refurbished my dynamo completely, new bearings and a totally new commutator for £180. I think that's very reasonable indeed, and they are nice people as well , who are very simpatico with older cars and equipment. originally recommended by John Savage, and they have done a few magneti marelli dynamo's etc now.

They also did a superb job on an Aprilia starter motor, when i had mine
