Title: Tacho Problem Post by: Peter W on 17 September, 2009, 10:53:27 PM The tacho on my 1600HF has started to play up. On starting it appears to read correctly for a second or so but then rapidly goes round to 6000 rpm. At tickover it fluctuates violently from 2000 to 6000 & as soon as I build the revs up a little it reverts to 6000. The engine is running perfectly. I am not sure whether to look for a wiring fault or an instrument problem. Has anyone experienced a similar problem?

Second, if you are using electronic ignition, the special module between the black box and the tacho to transduce its electrical signals may be damaged (this is a common problem). Otherwise it is likely to be the instrument. Andrea
Title: Re: Tacho Problem Post by: Peter W on 18 September, 2009, 11:13:49 PM Hi Andrea. I am not using elctronic ignition & the tacho connection is firmly attached to one side of the ballast resistor, so it looks as though I will have to source another instrument.
