Spoke to a chap yesterday who is clearing his garage, and has a Lancia engine with gearbox, halfshafts, brakes etc in a subframe. Its a twin-cam engine, transversely mounted, and he's had it about 20 years, originally intending to put it in a Dino 246 replica. Putting all that together, I'd guess its a complete drivetrain from a Monte. The engine was in good order when first acquired, and has been dry stored since - so it sounds likely that it could relatively easily be recommissioned. If anyone is interested, I've got contact details - the seller is in Camerton near Bath.

After various conversations I'm now pretty sure that this is a Beta engine, not a Monte. But apart from that I know no more.
