Title: Unleaded Petrol - 1979 Beta Coupe
Post by: dmitcham on 02 January, 2010, 09:06:57 PM
Hi

Please can anyone advise on the use of unleaded petrol in a 1979 Beta 2000 Coupe?  That is, is it Ok with addatives or not?  I've seen conflicting advice and wonder if anyone has any real (long trerm?) experience.

Hi

have been running a 79' beta on unleaded with an additive. I tend to go for the super unleaded 98+octane and add Castrol Valvemaster plus. I dont think theres any definitive answer as to which brand of either fuel or additive is best but I have been fine with the above for many years now. Just dont start mixing in different additives in the same tank of fuel

cheers
G

When the  report on this first came out it was advised that once you start on one additive, stay with it and don't mix as they have different chemical makeups, I've always used Millers VSP in My Fulvia 2c.

I run my VX Coupe on standard premium unleaded plus Millers VSP.  It t has taken part in various rallies, track days & the Centenary trip to Turin without any problems.

My 1300 Coupe (which has to be driven hard to get the best out of it!) runs best on Shell V Power super unleaded. It pinks with most standard unleaded and Total's super unleaded. BP super unleaded is also OK. I feed it some Redex lead replacement every couple of tank fulls. This has worked OK for 10K over 3 years.
