I harked after one of those hawk replicas for a long time now, here in Ireland we have to pay a registration tax which is calculated on the new price of a new car of similar spec. The tax is 60% of the cost of a new car. If the car was built on a chassis that is 30 yrs or older It is tax exempt. So if i want one it has to be that. ???
Title: Re: Stratos Replica Post by: SanRemo78 on 14 May, 2010, 12:36:53 PM You'll have to check the actual registration document. It may be that it's running on a Lancia MonteCarlo document and the "V" plate would give it's age as 1979/80 so it might creep through. But, and it's a pretty big BUT, if your inspector realises that it's not a Monte Carlo but is still registered as one then it may not be legally registered and may have to be submitted for an IVA test. That may prove expensive to obtain depending on the quality of the build. Hawk (AKA Transformer Cars) have been making these cars from the mid 80's so even the earliest won't be 30 years old yet. Mine is 22 years now. And this is where is gets a little more complicated... My car is legally registered, on a non Q plate and carries the age of the oldest component in car so it is registered as a 1978 vehicle. Assuming the registration document has been altered to describe the car as a Stratos Hawk Replica the chances are it has been through DVLA (somehow) and will be recorded as 30 years old. Hope this helps!

Cheers, Tony. Hi Tony Can you tell me where this car is located cos I'm interested in having a look. Have you seen it and, if so, what sort of condition is it. Although I'm prepared to do any mechnical things, I'd prefer not to have to do much (anything) to the bodywork! If you want to pass on my phone number it's 07814-838657 Thanks Neil Title: Re: Stratos Replica Post by: zagatoboy on 17 May, 2010, 11:38:01 AM Sorry, just contacted the dealer and the owner has now changed his mind and wants to keep the car.
