Title: Heater matrix removal
Post by: libbyvic on 02 June, 2010, 08:19:50 AM
Hi All, I am progressing well with the assembly of the S1 Zagato. But need to remove the heater matrix as it looks well gone. Is this a complicated job? The workshop manual copy I have is not that clear.
If anyone has done this before, some pointers would be really useful.

Also, I have bought a second hand complete engine. I will clean the outside of it but need expert help to determine if its ok and goo to fit Would any member lie to take this on, on a fee basis obviously, to examine and get it ready to install?
As I say, its all complete with gearbox and carbs.

My contact number is 07850 841222 or just email at michael@3di.co.uk.

PS anyone going to the auto italia day at Stanford Hall on the 6th June?

Cheers
Michael

If you are going on Sunday you may be interested in the site plan sent to me by Auto Italia. (sorry nothing to do with heater matrix removal!)

Hi Michael,

I removed the matrix from my SI Zagato about 3 years ago and had it re-cored. Not a complicated job. As I recall it was fiddly because of the confined space but I don't remember any great problems.

Re Stanford

I got all excited that we may be having a bit of summer this weekend so out with the little 1.3 for trip down to RHS Hyde Hall (earning brownie points), lunch somewhere etc and then think about Stanford in the opposite direction. Thought Stanford was on saturday when weather is going to be fab - but no, its Sunday and the end of summer so sorry chaps and chapettes I doubt I will make the trip. Nice to see Lancia by the portapotties BTW (courtesy Stu's map) - what are AutoItalia trying to tell us?!!

See you somewhere soon (AGM??)

Tim

I removed the matrix on my S2.  Not difficult to get it out of the heater and cheap enough to get a new one made (local Serck agent).  However, I did it by removing the heater.  Basically, you take out everything under the scuttle to get at it.  Bit of a fag but not hard.  I would think it would be pretty well impossible in situ.
