Title: Beta self-levelling (not) headlamp system Post by: St Volumex on 02 February, 2011, 06:29:12 AM Anyone know what fluid is used inside the Beta (and Thema) self-levelling headlamp systems?
Unfortunately there always seems to be some imbecile with a junior hacksaw out there who just cuts the pipes to solve a problem! ::) Title: Re: Beta self-levelling (not) headlamp system Post by: Betaboy2.0 on 02 February, 2011, 08:28:37 AM Not sure that I am going to be very helpful with this suggestion (perish the thought I hear you say) but if you can't establish exactly what the correct fluid is, maybe the fluid used by BMC / BL for the Hydrolastic / Hydragas suspensions systems would be a good substitute? Although on a more heavy duty scale, it has to perform a similar function of the fluid in the headlamp arrangement on Beta & Gamma. It is designed not to freeze, not to damage paintwork etc etc, and it is readily available because the MGF used Hydragas before it was facelifted into the TF Just a thought! although to be honest I don't think anyone has been successful at refilling the system. At one time a complete replacement system was available from Lancia, hardening/cracking of the plastic pipework being the problem. (I have tried and failed so changed to manual adjustment) Geoff |
