Title: Flavia Berlina for sale
Post by: williamcorke on 01 March, 2012, 01:33:31 PM
I went to collect the Aprilia shell that was briefly on ebay (yes, Chugga and I bought it) and the seller, Geoff Crabtree, has what I think is an amazing Flavia Berlina 1800 for sale.  Un-restored, totally unmolested, low mileage.  Original paint, cloth interior etc.  The main issue it has that I could see is crumbling foam in the dash and front seats.  Engine runs well, brakes need work (not the cheapest job on these cars...).  There's a tiny dent in the rear rh wing (should be able to see in one photo) and the paint lacquer isn't in the best state everywhere, but I'd say certainly serviceable - photos flatter of course.

Geoff is a real Lancia enthusiast and has a couple of Aprilias for sale.  He finds a lot of cars in France and knows of some Flavia coupes for sale there if any of you are interested.  Contact details; Crabtree Classics, 01622 884287, crabree@bicknorpark.co.uk.

Anyway, back to the Berlina.  Geoff's looking for about £3k for it.  He was thinking of putting it on ebay but we agreed that I'd post it here to give LMC members first dibs.

If I wanted one of these cars I would buy this one; so if you're thinking of getting one (they are amazingly refined to drive and beautifully built, though not to look at according to most commentators!) this car is very much worth a look.

Disclaimer, I have no interest in this car and am just passing on info the the LMC community...

Is it a Series 1? looks very nice for the money. :)
Interesting, the overriders look the same as those fitted to the very first Fulvia Normale Berlinas.

Richard, have you been to see the car?  What did you think of it?

It's got some amazing companions, the '30s French cars in particular.  GC says he doesn't have a single car (has 32) that doesn't still have its original interior.

Hi William,I did go being local to me.the approach via  Hollingbourne Hill  suited my sedan just perfectly and I suspect your aurelia would be more than happy to do the climb!needless to say I couldn't resist having a look at the flavia which I may  have bought a couple of years ago although LHD is not my preference and I am more than happy with my fulvia sedan and my PF which will take its place.also took a nose to nose photograph of the flavia and my fulvia which is on my blackberry for future posting somehow.i did like the flavia ,not having seen one that I can remember the interior was appealing with the steering wheel which I prefer to my sedans wheel ,the underside good, nice colour paintwork, engine starts and runs .brake parts and dampers available too so all good I think! best regards richard

Still looks nice although that dash is really bad, about the same standard as my 2c when found but with care and patiience it's probably possible to rebuild most of it yourself as I did by scraping out the old foam, then using the original metal former and outer cover, carefully rebuild using spray foam, it isn't easy but it was certainly possible with care to go a long way towards restoring it.
