Title: Beta Coupe 1600 Series 2 1979 in excellent condition Post by: 2Lancialan on 11 April, 2012, 01:02:04 PM One of only 100 cars exhibited at the Lancia Centenary event in Covent Garden in 2007 (see photo).
Same owner for the last 30+ years. Only 64,731 miles since new. Largely original with no significant restoration (apart from upholstery). Mainly garaged and barely used for the last 20+ years. Spare set of alloys and various spare parts included. MOT has expired, but virtually no mileage done since the last one. Buy it now and drive it to the Beta 40th Anniversary event: £2500. I have been keeping this car for my son to drive, however now that he is old enough, he has decided that he prefers his mother's Alfa Romeo Spider, so the Beta Coupe is therefore available for sale. However I would like it to go to someone who is a real enthusiast for Betas and who is going to get real pleasure out of driving and owning it. The car does not require any restoration work. As mentioned in the description, you could conceivably buy it and drive it to the Beta 40th Anniversary event on 25th May. Naturally you'd have to sort out some insurance, MOT and road tax first of course. However it sailed through its last MOT back in July 2010 with flying colours and has covered only 73 miles since that time, so I don't think you'll find too much wrong with it! Indeed the MOT examiner commented that he had never seen one in such excellent condition underneath. No, but joking apart, there's absolutely nothing wrong with my son prefering his mother's Alfa Romeo Spider (am I allowed to say that kind of thing on the LMC Forum or will I get barred?). Apart from anything else I was the one who found her the car in the first instance (oh dear I think I'm digging a bigger hole for myself here). I never actually expected her to buy it, or for my son to want to drive it. Apart from anything else it wouldn't be too cool or credibility enhancing for my son to be driving around in a car with a numberplate beginning with "SUE". Reminded me a bit of that old Jonny Cash song. However he's got the numberplate changed now and as it's a pre-73 Alfa, it's free road tax - a serious benefit if you're a student on limited income. Of course he'd much prefer to have something like your Fulvia 1600HF, but I doubt very much if you'd consider a swap or part exchange! Tim Reminds me that some years ago a very generous club member indulged my son's wife and swapped her Ford Fiesta for his very nice Fulvia S3 Coupe which she then proceeded to use on her district midwife rounds. was equally as bad. I like the holes in the 1/4 light that seem to be for a handle,but a bit wasted as it doesn't have opening 1/4 lights. Interesting Number plate though. Monmouthshire http://www.kitheadtrust.org.uk/new_page_13.html Robin These were the people who help me prove to the DVLA that 'FAY' had been issued with a 'D' suffix, as previously they had said it wasn't possible for me to have the registration number 'FAY 224D' even though I had the first and last tax discs and photos with "Fay" complete with number plates.
