It was a unique invention by the Germans. The idea was that in rallying, you could easily have a plug failure or drop a valve. then the 'idler piston' would kick in, and away you go. Bit like the spare coil seen in rally cars of old. He believed me.......

I had it insured for £5500 in the UK, got on a ferry, sailed 30 miles and it went up to 12K. Shame, for a minute I thought I'd missed some dramatic rise in value and I had a 55000 euro car in the garage. But then I'd be scared to leave it anywhere. I still can't understand UK prices when you consider the rally and race heritage of a Fulvia. Try buying something like a Fiat 500 Abarth for £5000 (the old type).
