Title: Group C Racing Round 4 Silverstone Classic 21-22 July. Post by: rikardo on 20 July, 2012, 09:57:38 PM On Saturday 21st July there is an evening race, emulating the dusk at the Le Mans 24hrs, from 20:35 to 21:05 hrs BST and on Sunday 22nd there is a second race, in hopefully(!) glorious sunshine, from 15:00 to 15:30 hrs BST.
As I'm sure you're now well aware, there are no less than three Martini Racing LC2s entered. This should make for a fantastic sight! See you there! Post by: rikardo on 23 July, 2012, 01:37:13 PM So this is what I missed seeing at the start of the Saturday evening race. And why we never got to see all three Martini Racing LC2s for more than the two formation laps, the incident shown above occurring at the first corner on the first flying lap! LC2 number 4 was involved, driven by Robin Ward and did not appear again over the week-end. On a brighter note, Roger Wills (5) finished 2nd, while Rupert Clevely (6) finished 7th.
For the mid-afternoon Sunday race, Rupert (6) handed driving duties over to Nicholas Minassian, as the Peugeot 905 had suffered transmission problems following Friday qualifying, and he also finished 2nd, taking advantage of a race-long battle between the Mercedes C9 (62) and Porsche 962 (17) , the 962 finishing 3rd. Roger Wills (5) had started well, but fell back to 6th at the finish. I will update this post when I have more information. In the meantime please see here for qualifying images http://www.groupcracing.com/pages/254 Title: Re: Group C Racing Round 4 Silverstone Classic 21-22 July. Post by: Martin D on 24 July, 2012, 09:13:30 AM Rupert (6) handed driving duties over to Nicholas Minassian, Very impressed by Minassian, apparently he hadn't even sat in the LC2 before he went out on the formation laps to start the race. Did all the qualifying in the Peugeot in the rain so first dry lap in anger was race lap 1 !!! Title: Re: Group C Racing Round 4 Silverstone Classic 21-22 July.
