Title: Just the thing for the next LMC trackday?
Post by: williamcorke on 10 October, 2012, 09:18:41 AM
This has popped up for sale for 30k Euros, made from B21 engine/box and Alfa suspension (I can see Giulietta lower front wishbones, not sure about the rest.  Claimed constructed in the '50s, but perhaps more '60s in concept?  Quite when it was really constructed is another question...

Do any of you know anything about this car?  I've never seen it before.

Very interesting Will......modelled, looks wise  on the D series of the 50s or...just their version of a 50s GP car?

D series front engined, so not modelled on that... in fact it looks more like a Cooper than anything Italian.  I wonder how they handled the engine / gearbox mounting - would need practically no prop at all or the car would be too long.  And how to get the gear-linkage rod past the engine would be another engineering conundrum.

That's the same place as the Chugga-tastic B21 pickup:

An awful lot of weight to be carrying in the back. At one of the AGM's back in 2003 there was a Formula Junior, with an Appia engine (maybe Aprilia, not sure) with an Aurelia transaxle. I have photos, but not on PC. It looked a far more balanced car. I can see no need for a fan on the radiator, unless of course its meant to be for road use. I've tinkered with the idea of fitting either a Fulvia engine/box or a Flavia engine/box into the frame of a Formula V. The Leastone V's are made up the road from where I live. You'd get a rolling chassis for a couple of thousand Euro, maybe less. I had in mind using for hillclimbs, very little class restrictions.
