Title: Fulvia 2C on ebay
Post by: blueboxer on 29 March, 2013, 08:36:34 PM
Appears to be in the UK but still on Italian plates. Seats look nice.

Very tempted at that price range but without seeing it, couldn't bring myself to bid.

I know what you mean blueboxer and if I hadn't bought Richard Fridd's s2 Berlina I would have bid for the 2c.

Robin.
P.S. Not that I regret buying the S2 Richard!  :D

Fits in with the story Richard had, that an Australian bought it with a view to doing a European Tour then would sell it before going home, Seems that's what he did.
As he's asking what he paid for it if he's lucky he's just had a free trip.

Don't like to see he's retaining the original registration number, no doubt to sell on, I just wish the DVLA would stop this practice, the original number is an integral part of the cars history and shouldn't be used for making a quick buck.

Brian,
I agree totally with you about original 'from new' registration numbers being retained when the car is sold.....but isnt the 2C a fairly recent import which was allocated an age related number on UK registration?
It would be nice to see this car stay in the UK.
The 'ebay' Fulvia Sedan probably needs a complete going over as Richard Fridd detailed in the low mileage Fulvia Sport thread running at the moment, particularly with respect to the brakes.
Looks an OK car though.
Chris

Putting my cynical hat on for the moment, you have to maybe ask why the ebay seller hadn't done the relatively simple task of mot and UK registering the car so perhaps it did need a brake overhaul or something else costly. That said, at least at only £2700 whoever bought it does have a reasonable buffer to the £5-6k it should be worth once all in good order.

Chris,
Yes you're right it had slipped my memory that it had been given an age related plate, in which case I'm surprised it isn't restricted to that particular vehicle, or perhaps that only applies when you've managed to get back an old original registration, in my case "Fays" registration number is non transferrable.
I'd agree with Richard as well, the ebay one will probably need a lot of work, but worth doing.

I love the " All belts have been changed" one belt goes from the crankshaft pulley to the dynamo and the other from the Dynamo to the mechanical fan, no great hardship to do and they're both the same.

I've been in touch with this chap.  He says the brakes have been reconditioned. He didn't answer me as to why the previous sale fell through but he does want more money than it sold for. It's private bids so form your own view on this!
He says it doesn't need an mot! Maybe he's got an Italian license and just going to drive around on Italian plates! He also says he is now leaving the uk so thats why he is selling . Maybe this is an ok car that someone will get at a decent price but I think this will have to be more than it sold for last time
