Don't know where they get their info from but I would put the bottom of the tailgate and the rear arches as the most rust prone spots. having said which they are both flat(ish) panels so not difficult to repair. The electrics have never seemed much of a problem either.
Cheap motoring with a Lancia badge on the front works for me!

I have owned four Y10s, a Fila, two standard FIRE engined models and the ex Lancia press car which if I remember correctly was a 1.1ie. The latter did not have the plastic  wheel arch protection pieces and regrettably rusted rather quickly, the Fila suffered from the front wing seam rust problem whilst the other two sadly just got tired and died.

However, they did us proud over several years, all four offspring had a lot of fun with them and they only passed on them when the need for more reliable and larger transport was required.

Highly recommended if you want some fun and something a little different.

PS the electrics never caused a problem on any of them !!!!!

...and two nice cars for sale in the club at the moment.

While each is rather more expensive than a round of drinks they're less than most cars require for a set of tyres.  Many tyre bills these days would buy both.  A bit of fun, no depreciation, pence per mile has to be about as low as it goes.  Every time you drive it you're saving the everyday car from wear and tear.  Take the parking slots everyone else has to pass, a time and mile saver.

Two for sale? Any details? They don't seem to be on the Forum.

They ~might~ have sold but to my knowledge still looking for homes.   This one with Peter Murphy in Suffolk.  I got as far as the extra photos by email and "the serious chat" at home:-

I'd have LOVED to have had that car as my everyday runabout...I won the "second car" argument but we ended up retiring the Merc 300TE from the "front line" to runabout and bought a BMW 530i touring for the longhaul/highdays/holidays.  The Jury is still out on the wisdom of that call.

Ben Courage's Selectronic (near Bath?):

There was a discussion about splitting the genuine LMC adverts from the "I just saw this" items.  Maybe there's an argument for an Omicron style listing and remove the cars that have sold?

For anyone with an itch to scratch the other BIG temptation out there is Alan Parke's Beta Coupe in Essex which again I think is yet to sell.

It was at the LMC 100th, wine red, lovely tweedy interior.  Again I got to the "extra photos" stage.  Stunning value for money but its been laid up for a while so will need an MOT and a bit of use rather than a "jump in and go" prospect.  I expect if you were serious he'd get an MOT on it and give it some use so you could be confident it was still all there.  A bigger boot than a Y10 but less headroom (I should have bought it five years ago) and without the hatchback versatility but as a 2+1 or with small kids (how soon they grow) what a car...  A 1600 as a everyday car (or with teens learning to drive) arguably preferable to a 2000 or volumex.  Alas I needed space for two teens and a (for now!!) smaller one so it didn't make sense.  I got as far as looking at a down-and-out Coupe within walking distance to "size it up" and alas, it didn't measure up.  "If she sits behind me and you move the passenger seat all the way forwards to make leg room in the back and the two of you swap half way..."  It was not to be.

All three have a the legs for motorways and enough oompff to climb all the hills with the trucks up your chuff but small enough engines that you can really work them without getting into licence-loss territory or being tempted into silliness.  The "smiles per mile" quotient would be unbeatable.  Light and nimble.  No power assistance.  Wind up windows and real locks not a plipper.  Black bumpers, the Beta with chrome as well.  The Beta Coupe has a webasto roof - when did you last see one of those?

These days with forums and ebay and computerised inventories the parts situation has never been better.  Remember when it was parts BOOKS and the long face and "no longer listed" and writing a "wants" letter to the one remaining specialist and hoping the warehouseman takes pity and goes for a rummage?

Both Y10s have been sold. If anyone knows of other Y10s for sale which are in good condition, please let me know as I have a friend who is looking for one.
