Title: 815 Engine oil
Post by: bobhenry999 on 17 April, 2013, 08:50:35 PM
Chaps,

Over the last 30 years that I have owned Flavias, I have always used 20/50 classic old fashioned engine oil.
I am just about to give my 63 coupe a service, and wondered if anyone has any thoughts on taking advantage of modern technology and using a more modern oil.
I have seen some reports of using Fiat Selenia HPX in Fulvias, would this be a possibility ?

Your thoughts or suggestions would be welcome.

Bob Dow

Selenia HPX has been doing a good job in my Fulvia 1600 engine for the past 15 years or so. Highly recommended!

I use classic (now made by Comma) 20/50, changed regularly this will be fine. See the FlaviaHF2000 site for more advice.

I understand the same green coloured classic 20/50 is available with various branding/pricing, although all from the same source.

300 mile round trip on drive it day with 200 at motorway (80+) and no perceivable oil consumption, nor water which the car was prone to lose before I changed the rad cap for a less shiny one.

Changed the oil and filter today, and re-filled with Comma Classic 20/50. Took it for a rtun and it seems to be a little smoother than before, or maybe my oil was just due for a change.
