I owned EGH 119, Roger had 335 , I have sales docs for 283 and I'm sure there were others ..... Title: Re: Photo Post by: Richard Fridd on 13 June, 2013, 07:36:14 PM Not sure but many thanks for the replies, glad I mentioned it, and glad it's still around. An interesting book anyhow for under a quid at Oxfam, Maidstone. Also from the book a pic of a bypass designed of course to rid medieval towns of traffic, and generate new growth along such roads, which then became as congested as the originals. The photo is just down the road from the infamous incident invoving the supercharged Lancia and I suppose from around the same time
Title: Re: Photo Post by: ColinMarr on 13 June, 2013, 09:45:15 PM This was the car owned for many years by Rodney Wilkinson. Photo below is from the Covent Garden do in 2007.

Title: Re: Photo Post by: rogerelias on 14 June, 2013, 04:37:18 PM How many "EGH" Aprilias were there ? The first car I travelled in was my dad's Aprilia reg number EGH 387 I think they were London reg numbers?
Title: Re: Photo Post by: Andy M-M on 24 June, 2013, 08:34:30 PM The photograph of EGH 335 was taken in the grounds of Beaulieu Abbey for their library. Believe it or not, they did'nt have any photo's of an Aprilia at that time.
Title: Re: Photo Post by: ColinMarr on 24 June, 2013, 09:36:37 PM Andy,
Which photo of EGH are you referring to? The one I posted above was taken at Covent Garden in 2007. Colin Title: Re: Photo Post by: donw on 25 June, 2013, 08:41:13 AM EGH issued London from July 1937, Lancia England took blocks of reg numbers.
Don Title: Re: Photo Post by: DavidLaver on 25 June, 2013, 10:09:02 AM Is that a well known blue for a Lancia? I'm wanting a list of likely candidates for what mine was resprayed. I could believe someone had an Aprilia that colour and wanted to match it when they got their Flavia Sport. David Title: Re: Photo Post by: Richard Fridd on 20 July, 2013, 03:58:23 PM Jenks' at a french hillclimb
Title: Re: Photo Post by: ben on 21 July, 2013, 09:51:45 AM Assuming this is the car Jenks used to follow the GP circus one year, back in the fifties or early sixties, and subsequently wrote about in "Motor Sport" it was what set me searching for an Aprilia for my family motoring. And which I still have of course.
I guess Lancia also took a batch of EYP numbers because Graham Aylett has EYP 465 I believe. Anyway it is a great picture and the car alongside looks like another Aprilia.--Over to the researchers fluent in French! Title: Re: Photo Post by: ColinMarr on 21 July, 2013, 11:45:58 AM Same as Ben - it was Jenk's race reports and his comments about his Aprilia in the 1950s that set me off to buy my first Aprilia in 1962. I wish I still had it!
Colin Title: Re: Photo Post by: Richard Fridd on 21 July, 2013, 12:41:39 PM EYP is between a 1900 Alfa Romeo and a 203 Peugot. Text: "As roving race reporter, I was using a 1939 Lancia Aprilia saloon for my travels" "It's true that you could not see much out of the tiny rear window in the sloping tail, but in those days there was not much worth seeing behind you so it did not matter" "you could easily put 50 miles into the hour on a cross country run" From the same here is the Behra Aurelia in 1955, "used to learn circuits and took the author round the 'Ring in it"

Title: Re: Photo Post by: Richard Fridd on 10 October, 2013, 10:37:39 AM A rally, no further details
Title: Re: Photo Post by: Mic on 10 October, 2013, 02:35:00 PM Jenks and EYP 467. See page 79 of "Jenks, a Passion for Motor Sport." There is a photo of the car with grill off when the car broke an engine mounting and this had a sad effect on the fabric coupling. It is a 1939 car and he owned it in 1954. We should feel chuffed that we own a car that was also chosen by Jenks.

Title: Re: Photos Post by: donw on 31 March, 2015, 06:46:28 PM The yellow and black Belna Eclipse was owned by an American in New Hampshire who also had an Augusta March also sold last year by RM for £95000.
Both have been given IMHO an OTT American restoration which has ignored originality, the March with polished rocker cover and engine turned dash, the Belna upholstered in ostrich skin! The Belna used to be in the UK and was owned by Scott Moncreiff who sold it to America. Both have been displayed and won prizes at Pebble Beach and Hershey. Title: Re: Photos Post by: the.cern on 31 March, 2015, 08:25:28 PM The Pourtout Belnas are lovely. As for the Portout Astura, attributed to Paulin, exquisite seems apt!!
