Title: 2000HF Coupe Chassis Nos. Post by: Justin McArdle on 15 October, 2013, 01:04:43 PM I have just bought a 2000HF Coupe. Registration was in November 1974 and the road tax is £225.00 per year. I came across a listing of chassis numbers on the Viva-Lancia website which shows that 2000HF Coupe manufacture ended in 1973. The document (attached) shows manufacture from 1971 until 1973 and chassis nos. 1001 to 2229 which concurs with general opinion that 1229 cars were manufactured (with occasional extras appearing!).
Anyone able to confirm? Title: Re: 2000HF Coupe Chassis Nos. Post by: northfawley on 15 October, 2013, 06:48:08 PM If you can post the chassis number I can tell you roughly when manufactured.

As Simon stated we need to know your model & chassis number, I'm looking at the information Simon let us have last year, which has enabled build dates to be more accurately determined, something that Fiat/Lancia no longer had until this came to light, which I assume is what you're looking at, that shown on Viva-Lancia came from the same source. Anyone able to confirm? I believe your model is 820.436/437?. However, chassis numbers 1641 to 2229 were built in 1973, which means if your chassis number is in that range then it's hard luck you've still got to pay the road fund licence, if earlier then you should be able to claim Historic Vehicle Status; if that's the case you need to contact Fiat UK and ask can they do a letter on your behalf to the DVLA, Tim Speechley used to be our contact for this, but I'm not sure who does it now that Tim's retired. I'm not sure if Barbara Longlands can furnished the letter of proof required needed on behalf of the LMC members? Brian 8227 8) Title: Re: 2000HF Coupe Chassis Nos. Post by: ColinMarr on 15 October, 2013, 10:05:49 PM I suggest you get in touch with LMC Secretary Barbara Longlands. Barbara is an expert in writing the necessary letter to convince the DVLA that your car qualifies as historic.
Colin Title: Re: 2000HF Coupe Chassis Nos. Post by: vigzag on 16 October, 2013, 08:47:59 AM Justin, all 2000HFs will be tax exempt due to the change announced in the budget and coming into force in April 2014 i.e "Previously only cars built before January 1 1973 were exempt from road tax, after the Government abandoned the previous 25-year rolling scale in 1997. However, from April 2014 any car manufactured before January 1 1974 will be entitled to a free tax disc". Assuming your chassis number falls in the standard range upto 2229 and is not one of the odd few outlying ones where it is hard to prove when built. So you should be able to get your log book changed to 'Historic' via DVLA as from April 2014, you may still need the letter of proof of build date due to your late registration date. So you have to pay this year and then get it changed in April to Historic.

Sorry for the delay in responding. Chassis no. is 820 437 002131. Title: Re: 2000HF Coupe Chassis Nos. Post by: fay66 on 16 October, 2013, 04:07:29 PM Hi All Justin,Sorry for the delay in responding. Chassis no. is 820 437 002131. Your 2000 definitely falls into the 1973 build year, so going by what Colin reported you'll have to wait until April 2014 before your 2000 HF becomes eligible. It is the year of manufacture that counts, not the year of first registration. Some of these late Flavias spent many months in transit and in storage before being sold and first registered. Flavia 2000HF with serial number 820 437 001894 was recently accepted by the DVLA to be historic and rated for zero road tax. Again I suggest you try the very helpful Barbara Longlands – she knows all about this.

BTW really enjoying the 2000 HF. Title: Re: 2000HF Coupe Chassis Nos. Post by: fay66 on 17 October, 2013, 12:07:28 AM You may not need to wait at all. Colin,Colin The document we're getting the dates from ARE for build years not the first registration dates, so we obviously know more than the DVLA, and hope that Justin is as lucky. Title: Re: 2000HF Coupe Chassis Nos. Post by: DavidLaver on 24 April, 2014, 08:03:14 AM A feel good calculation for you - assuming you were going to tax the car every year for ever, and interest rates stay as they are, and the post office rate for a three year bond of 2pct is as good as it gets - you'd have needed £11,250 in the bank to fund that tax disk. So "obviously" your car is now worth £11,250 more than it was before you filled those forms in. Another way to look at it - that's about 800 miles worth of fuel the government has given you back. That's enough to get you to Turin. Easy on the right peddle and perhaps eek that out to Rome. David Title: Re: 2000HF Coupe Chassis Nos. Post by: DavidLaver on 24 April, 2014, 08:10:13 AM Using shopperholic-logic (it took me a while to come up with a phrase that wasn't sexist...) that means you can both now buy another car and drive them both on as many continental road trips as you can find the time for and still be ahead. Over Easter I had to go back to B&Q with some paint to change the colour. Alas the colour "we" wanted (you know how it is) was only available in the smaller tins which was more per litre. The clever thing is that due to it still being on the three-for-two offer that meant we now saved even more money than before - as the receipt clearly showed. William and I enjoyed those proceeds in the café on the way home. David Title: Re: 2000HF Coupe Chassis Nos.
