Title: Lancia Knights Rally 2014 1st to 7th September 2014
Post by: lancialulu on 12 November, 2013, 02:08:46 PM
Planning is already under way for a return trip on very different roads to Mondovi.

Called this time Lancia Knights rally 2014 so open to all Lancias.

Dates 1st to 7th September (with travel to and from added on either side).

An open meeting for Lancias is anticipated for the 7th and it is also the City's annual fete day.

PM me if interested. This is not a LMC event.

I am pleased to say that although there was some doubt a month ago as to whether this non LMC event would happen this year, final pieces are falling into place.

Still scheduled for 1-7 September, and any Lancia. This will nominally be a small group from Holland Belgium France Italy and UK c 15-20 teams.

Starting on Monday 1st September around Dijon and travelling through a delightfully empty french countryside and alpine roads arriving in Mondovi Friday lunch time with a day exploring vineyards and slow food before fireworks and Mondovi's fete day.

Pricing will similar to last year so not expensive as some week long trips are. Petrol will be the main cost I suspect.

Let me know if you want further details. Will post in VL as well.

I'm sorry to say I won't be able to go this year. My sister who acts as my dog-sitter has a conference to organise over that period. Having joined the company recently she had no influence over the dates. I'd quite like the details though to see the route chosen and if possible, I may head you off at the pass on the first day and meet for lunch. I know that's taking 'dipping in and out' to extremes but I'd like to meet up with the gang again. Anyone out there wavering about it I would say definitely go. Beautiful scenery and food, empty roads, nice people and Lancias - what else do you want?

True, there is that, Brian. Must admit the way things are going here with some big bills going out and coming up etc it would have been tight this year.

Please don't the read these posts and think it is a lot of money. This is one of the cheapest rallying weeks driving you can find unless you stay at home.

I make these comments fully aware of the cost of living at the mo which is why we all have to make choices.

I hope to see a few brits join this event like last year.

Tim is right, I didn't mean to give that impression. It wasn't the trip itself for me but a huge unexpected tax bill due to a computer error! This isn't Tour Auto with an 8000 euros entry fee (excluding meals and accomodation!). It's fuel, meals and hotels and the hotels last year were good value. It was a trip I have really good memories of. I was all set to go again so do support it as I'd like to do it again in the future!

I think this year will be the last to Italy before reverting to a non-knights format of past years of a long weekend in north east France/Belgium. The Destination is renowned for its fete day which is always on the 7th so next year it is Monday etc making it less of a practical proposition.

Same for me, it wasn't the hotel etc costs, it was mainly the fuel which came to about £560 and was the single major expense, Simon came with me and we shared the costs which made it a viable proposition.
I'd recommend it to anyone without reservation, fantastic trip and brilliant driving roads.
