Clarkey ps this pic is my beautiful assistant AKA Matron Clarke Title: Re: pics to go with oil leak Post by: simonandjuliet on 02 April, 2014, 09:10:28 PM That looks like a 2/3 series oil seal and yours is an early engine. I have not taken an early engine to bits so cannot be sure, I think someone else will confirm this
If early engines just have "throwers" that would explain why you had an oil leak when you tipped the engine, Aprilias are like this as well. Again, you need someone with more experience than me to help here. By the way, your workshop seems far too clean and empty, you need lots more projects .... Title: Re: pics to go with oil leak Post by: lancianut666 on 02 April, 2014, 09:20:14 PM Hi
Don tells me I have a series 2 engine (the one in the pictures) but hidden away in that tidy workshop is a block that Don tells me is a series 3 all my diagrams just show oil slingers no rubber oil seals I'll just clean it all up and put a new gasket on Clarkey Title: Re: pics to go with oil leak Post by: the.cern on 03 April, 2014, 10:28:17 AM Clarkey, do not listen to Simon, yes your workshop seems too clean and empty, BUT, you do not need more projects, you simply need to give shelter to one of mine so that I can have more room in which to attack my various ongoing works ... simples !!!!!

replaced the gasket... well just put a new one on top of the old one (purists look away now) the original screws were staked in place so i put a wee drop of loctite stuff on the threads. it's as if it grew there now Clarkey |
