Title: Re: Brooklands Museum Auto Italia Day 3rd May Post by: DavidLaver on 03 May, 2014, 09:39:09 PM Even this morning I was in two minds if I was going to go - and I'm so glad I did and so sorry I couldn't stay twice as long. I feel I need to apologise for the "non Lancias" in the set. That X1-9 is one lady owner from new and on the front of the X1-9 book I bought half an hour before, she was charming. Perhaps its the 40 year rule but that 128 3P just sat so well, much lower and much more practical than I remembered them, there was another in another colour I liked almost as much. The Cisitalia grill is CAST, an exquisite thing on its own let alone the rest of it. So much to see and enjoy beyond what felt like as many Lancias as at the AGM last. When did this event get so big? It must be 15 years since I've been. The wierdy colours are William having fun with the new camera - he can set effects before taking the picture. It makes me think that perhaps this is the year to try and make it to the NEC. Roll on the AGM.

If I can put a name to a car I stand a better chance (I need all the help I can get...) of matching a face to a name :) It looked gorgeous and I for one was delighted you made it. Are you going to the Flavia AGM in Oxfordshire this Sunday (I think I'm ok for it) or did you mean the LMC AGM in Cambridge (still very much subject to negotiation)? David Title: Re: Brooklands Museum Auto Italia Day 3rd May Post by: DavidLaver on 06 May, 2014, 10:09:25 PM Just spotted that's two different cars... I'm going to guess yours is the LHD drive car with the cream interior with half a memory you bought it in Italy "recently" - or have I muddled that up as well. Title: Re: Brooklands Museum Auto Italia Day 3rd May Post by: stanley sweet on 07 May, 2014, 06:09:21 PM Some beautiful cars there. The Flavia(s) are gorgeous. As is the Club Italia Aurelia. David, don't apologise for the non-Lancia shots. The interior of the X-19 brought back distant memories. I had an early model like the one shown only in light metallic blue. It had a numbered sticker on the nearside front wing which meant it was part of the first batch imported. It was a great little car, going around roundabouts at surprising speeds. The only thing I found was driving with the roof off and the side windows down there was a very strong buffeting that forced your head forward and down so literally was a pain in the neck. I imagine this was the airflow hitting the rear screen just behind you. I sold it in about 1985. I still remember its reg - VTW 953S if it's out there somewhere.

Firstly let me apologize for my slow response to your message, i have been a bit busy with work lately. Yes, you are right, mine is the LHD one with the light tan interior, I bought it from a collection in Turin a couple of years ago. Weather permitting, I will be at the AGM this Saturday, so please lets meet up and introduce ourselves to each other. Regards, Bob |
