Title: Flavia 2000 Ignition Coil
Post by: alan284flavia on 23 May, 2014, 07:16:39 PM
With the ongoing cold starting problems on my Flavia which a garage has been unable to resolve, can anyone tell me if the Flavia 820 should have a ballast resistor coil or a standard coil. So far as I can see mine had a standard coil and I replaced it with a Bosch coil supplied by Omicron which also seems to be standard. Once started, the car is ok for the rest of the day, carb has been stripped and cleaned but even after repeated cranking there is no smell of fuel. The car has a Lumenition ignition system, at least 25 years old. Has anyone had any experience of these causing problems ?

Have at last solved starting issues, simply a poor earth connection to the Lumenition ignition heat sink module, is in a concealed area and found mounting bolt a bit loose, has defeated 2 mechanics, the AA and a retired auto electrician, and 2 years swear box contributions !
