There are a few LHD Lambdas amongst others.Regards, John Title: Re: B24S photo Post by: Richard Fridd on 30 June, 2014, 08:44:05 PM Were they special orders?
Title: Re: B24S photo Post by: chriswgawne on 30 June, 2014, 09:09:34 PM Where is this photo from Richard....and roughly what year? Is it a photo of a British registered?
I am wondering if the car is Jacky's B24S Convertible as the driver looks familiar and the colours are correct for the car. Chris Title: Re: B24S photo Post by: GG on 01 July, 2014, 12:42:48 AM Aurelia berlinas were available as LHD from 1951.
Title: Re: B24S photo Post by: the.cern on 01 July, 2014, 07:08:23 AM I have always thought that right hand drive was simply the default situation, left hand drive was available as an option.
I have seen it somewhere, but my brain refuses to tell me where, that different states in Italy had different rules relating to the correct side of the road for driving. Indeed, in some states it varied depending whether you were in the country or the town. Changeover locations must have been interesting!!!! Andy Title: Re: B24S photo Post by: JohnMillham on 01 July, 2014, 07:30:37 AM Were they special orders? They were available from the eighth series of Lambda. That's why both front wings were made with a "cut out" for the steering box. They didn't offer the option on Augustas or Aprilias, even though there's a LHD Aprilia in the Turin Motor Museum (formerly the Biscaretti) which was apparently made just for the museum. I have no idea why! There are at least five LHD Lambdas known to exist. The steering box was very "thin" on those models, as it had to be fitted next to the magneto / dynamo - and there wasn't much room for it. Title: Re: B24 photos Post by: Niels Jonassen on 13 August, 2014, 02:17:03 PM In Italy they drove on the left until 1922. A few cities - I remember Turin, Milan, Naples and Rome - we allowed to keep to the left for a couple of years while their tram lines were changed.

Both cars returned to Italy shortly after. Title: Re: B24 photos Post by: Parisien on 31 October, 2014, 10:42:43 PM Did I read the story in a Viva Lancia magazine?

From http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yafIvKriSgo A little trivia ..... one of the stars of this film, Jean Louis Tritignant was a nephew of Maurice Tritignant, a renowned driver in the 50s. He drove, inter alia, the Ferrari 801, the D50 derivative and, on retirement from the race scene, became involved in another of my passions, wine!!! He was a producer, I a mere consumer!! Andy Title: Re: B24 photos Post by: fay66 on 01 November, 2014, 08:09:08 AM Andy,
I can't think of a nicer passion ;D Brian 8227 8) Title: Re: B24 photos Post by: aureliaspider on 01 November, 2014, 08:28:12 AM Parisien -- No, I finally managed to succeed in acquiring one around 1995 - I think you read that story!
The two cars in the photos were not for sale, until they were apparently for sale a few months after we saw them. Even in the 1980s, the roving European dealers often succeeded when the "locals" could not. http://mycarquest.com/2014/11 Title: Re: B24 photos Post by: DavidLaver on 15 December, 2014, 01:43:53 PM Was interesting enough to make it to the end and a little way down the comments. Having read it I pondered the advice "buy the best example you can afford of the model you want". I did that, and screwed some timber into the sills to get it home. Thing is I'm not at all sure I wanted it until I saw it...for all I remain unrepentant, even pleased with it. They/he seemed dismissive of some random rich person with a classic 911 and a tesla. I didn't quite get the point. Who wouldn't want either or both of those if they could afford them? Money no object I'd love to at least try the BMW hybrid thing and the Tesla saloon. THE example of a collector came recently from Simon. A gentleman in Italy with the complete set of Appias. That's dedication... I've heard of the tipping point being when you stop thinking with excitement about which one you'd like next and instead are bothered by which ones are missing from the set.
